I think I'm pretty much obligated to pick this apart bit by bit, they're my absolute favorite army.

I don't remember what the spear of twilight does, but other than that, looks good.

Why? The sword, callach's claw, arcane bodkin; why? I would just drop the weapons and run them naked or with dispell scrolls...

I love glade riders, so... good enough, there's nothing I can really add to them, they're a bit of a no-brainer.

If you split them into 2 units of 10 and a unit of 12, that would be better. I don't quite remember the points off the top of my head either, but running 3 units of 10 and adding musicians may be a good idea.

I always saw them as a bit expensive, but good luck with them.

Units of 8 are best here.

I do think the list is pretty good, but... you can't run forever. I suggest you get an anvil, like a treeman or a unit of eternal guard. Eternals count as troops because you have a highborn and there actually is no rule that says you couldn't stick that wardancer in the unit of eternals, making them stubborn and giving them a special extra kick.

For your alter lord, you may want to run a machine gun lord. The machine gun lord is an alter kindred noble with a bow of loren. Give him the arcane bodkin to take out heavily armoured enemies or starfire arrows to make your enemies flee. I generally give him the annoyance of netlings too, just for fun.

It Confers the "killing Blow"

The sword is to make it slightly better in combat, should they get into it. Which would be an absolute disaster personally, as they're supposed to be magic support.

Arcane Bodkins, because they come with a Longbow standard.

'd been advise to have doubles, he didn't give a clear reason why. I chose 16 because I wanted a good volley of shots

I really liked their Scout ability, and thought I could utilise it.

My original list had 2 units of 10, but with the 2k point restriction, I had to knock it down a fair bit.

£36 for a unit of 3, and I'd probably need at least 5 t make the unit worth while.

Again, my wallet made the decision not to taske these. If I'm honest, most of what you said made no sense, as I don't play Fantasy that often :P

I wanted him for Character killing >

Extremely sorry Cirus for the Double post.

I've broken down my list to (more or less) 500pt blokes.

First month
Wardancer Noble
Unit of Glade Guard
Wardancer Troupe

Second Month
Spellsinger
Unit of Glade Guard
Unit of Glade Riders

Third Month
Spellsinger
Scout Glade Guard
Wardancer Troupe

Fourth Month
Highborn
Glade Riders
Waywatchers

I've also had a re-calc of my list.

Your spellsingers should really not be fighting. They should have dispell scrolls as well! Where is your magical defence!

And no Dryads? They absolutely rock.

So replace the combat weapons with items that aid Dispels?

If the points cap is increased to 3k, then I'll probably include Orion, and then remaining points will go to some Dryads.

Currently, your magic defence is pretty dire.

You need at least two scrolls to stop the spells you really need to stop going off.

Asrai are not a powerful magic army, but the spells are an incredible boost to your units, making them cause fear, or seeing through terrain, or blocking an enemy unit in with terrain. Played some dwarfs once - he had a 20 man Ironbreaker unit with lord in. Nothing in my army could go one on one with that, so I blocked them at every turn with trees, ending up keeping them virtually static and useless the entire game

Thanks Rafe.

I actually had another (my initial calculations were a bit off, again :) re-calc of my list, as well as making a 1k add on should the points cap be increased.

This is the new list
Lord

Highborn of the Altar Kindred
Spear of Twilight, An Annoyance of Netlings, Briarsheath, The Fimbulwinter Shard
275pts

Treeman Ancient
Murder of Spites, A Resplendence of Luminescents, A Cluster of Radiants
400pts

Heroes

Noble Wardancer (Army General)
Blades of Loec
140pts

Spellsinger
Upgrade to Lvl 2 Wizard
The Hunterís Talon, Divination Orb
175pts

Spellsinger
Upgraded to Lvl 2 Wizard
Dispel Scroll, Deepwood Sphere
175pts

Core

Glade Riders
5 x Riders + Musician
129pts

Glade Riders

129pts

Glade Guard
16 x Guard
192pts

Glade Guard
16 x Guard
192pts

Scout Glade Guard
10 x Scouts
170pts

Dryads
15x Dryads
180pts

Dryads
15x Dryads
180pts

Special

Wardancer Troupe
8 9 x Wardancers + Musician
151 pts 169pts

Wardancer Troupe
8 9 x Wardancers + Musician
151pts 169pts

Treekin
3 x Treekin
195

Rare

Waywatchers
5 x Waywatchers
120pts

Total = 1999pts 2990pts
Red stuff is what I'd add or change with a 3k lit.

Also whilst doing this, I found what could be the most beardy why to make a model invincable. It's so beardy, that its either illegal, or just wouldn't work.

In a sense, I really want to have that extra 1k of points.

I would drop the treekin and take a treeman model instead. They're not.... terribly hard to convert, and that makes them cheaper than treekin, not to mention.... they don't suck like treekin do :P

Dunno, my treekin always perform well. You use them as an anvil, slam into an enemy unit, and then hit the sides with wardancers
