Default Fantasy Storylines, which one is cannon?

Ive looked for some kind of Warhammer Fantasy complete story, but I can't seem to figure out which one is cannon. Is the Mark of Chaos story line part of it, or something different. Is the Warhammer Age of Reckoning story part of it? Is the Warhammer fantasy stuff in the army books and table top games the only real cannon stuff? I am just confused in general, anything that can show me the way would be awesome.

The biggest problem with the background material for all the GW ranges is that over the years, things have been changed, so what was cannon becomes obsolete and conflicts with the new material. Look at the Original WFRP game material, in the books Power Behind the Throne and Empire In Flames you ended up with Karl Franz dead. A civil war up until the discovery that one of the Elector Counts is actually a descendant of Sigmar.
When WFRP was re-released GW basically said that's not going to happen, and changed how they wanted Empire In Flames to play out. Then add in the Warhammer Stories on general release in bookshops, the numerous different sets of background fluff in each Armies book and you end up with a snakes wedding.

The only stuff that is -cannon- really is what is presently current. So the present rulebook and Armies books until those are changed. Then they are no longer cannon.

Hmmmm, because in some of the stories the Empire is getting savaged, like in Mark of Chaos, they are holding on by a thread. Or in Age of Reckoning they are in trouble but not to the point of desparation, and in Gotrek and Felix books, where they are actually in the Empire, the Empire seems like it is 100% A ok, a swordsmen on every street kinda deal. It just makes for alot of confusion.

Well Mark Of Chaos was set during the Choas Incursions during an earlier time period, so a couple of hundred years before the 'present day' that battles are normally fought in Warhammer. Thats how they could create this kind of storyline without complete buggering the acceptable timelines.
