How does it compare to Warhammer?, it is Warhammer.
Although i assume you mean 40K, which is the later game (i.e Fantasy was released first). Fantasy is set in as it would suggest a fantasy world, the fluff is based around a black-powder and pre-black-powder world (which is pretty much undoubtedly somewhere in then 40K universe although at what time nobody can say). Your units rank up and combat resolution is far more important and you can win fights without killing anything, numbers, standards, flank charges etc count for far more. It is IMO a more complex game and movement is far more critical than it is in 40K. Essentially unlike 40K this isn't just a game of target selection that any newplayer can take up and win, it would be very unlikey for a new player to beat a vet no matter what lists they were using. Shooting is a lot less deveastating and overall the damage potential is far less, but far,far more models are lost from fleeing and getting run down by the enemy. Fantasy is in my opinion by far the superior game.

AMEN!
Fantasy and 40k are pretty differant. but have the same bisic races. theres less shooting, guys in regiments awsome creatures(hippogriphs, dragons, ect) theres magic, and almost every race has there own lore of magic as well as the normal 7 or 8. personally if i had to choose fantasy of 40k for the rest of my life, it'd be fantasy.

No there isn't really a Tay equivelant in Fantasy mainly because they are a very new race for 40K. its mainly the traditional older races that have been around a while that have an equivelant race in Fantasy.
There is actually a thread somewhere on this board that outlines what races/armies represent 40K races/armies in Fantasy.
