Default Ranks of Gnoblars [Army and Society]

The following is a list of the different Gnoblar 'ranks' from their Hordes and Culture.

Read on:

[Ranks: Horde]

Honchos and Head Honchos

Gnoblar leaders are informally known as Honchos, or Head Honchos in the case of the largest-nosed and most bellicose. They often stir up trouble and insurrection within the Ogre Kingdoms and are usually hunted down and killed. Either by their Ogre masters or or by jealous followers who would usurp them. Because of this most Gnoblar leaders are extremely paranoid and cautious.

Manbiters

This small group consider themselves the elite of Gnoblar-kind, being the biggest and baddest of their kind, Manbiters aspire to become better than other Gnoblars. As a result many Manbiters go off on wild adventures. If there is a large group of them they will sell themselves as mercenaries to gain fame and war stories. Consequently they have short lives.

Lucky Gits

These Gnoblars are even luckier than other Luck-Gnoblars. A Gnoblar will only become a Lucky Git after some exceptional feat of fortune, such as: being the only survivor of an avalanche or making it through the digestive system of a mammoth alive. Gits dress themselves in anything blue they can get their hands on.

Pigback Riders

A common sport among Gnoblars is 'pig-jousting', were a Gnoblar would ride on the back of a pig and have a jousting competition against various opponents. Thus, when Gnoblars go to war some Gnoblars will get a piggyback of another and attack their enemies by jousting.

Blood-Gnoblars

These Gnoblars dwell high in the peaks of the Mountains of Mourn. Often spending long periods away from camp hunting small game - generally categorised as anything too small for the Ogres to bother with. They look alike to their kin only their backs are usually hues of browns and reds. Also, they have a better sense of hearing, making them very skilled Trappers. Because of the the Blood-Gnoblars' knowledge of trapping, average Trappers will go to great lengths to try and make themselves appear like them, dousing themselves in bowls of blood.

Boglars

Also known as Marsh-Gnoblars or Swamp Goblins, Boglars are a breed of Gnoblar live in marshes, swamps and bogs. The significant differences of Boglars are their blue skin and yellow eyes. Most of the time they attempt to catch frogs, fish and other fish-like creatures, dissecting them with sticks and eating them alive.

[Ranks: Culture]

Scum

They make up the majority of the population. Those too weak, lazy, stupid or injured to make a name for themselves or follow an Ogre master make a living as best they can. There are a variety of different jobs 'Scum' have to endure, some of them being: bonestewer, beetlegrubber, stick collector, weasel baiter and manure taster are just some of the jobs open to a young, aspiring Gnoblar.

Fighters

Made up of the larger and more independent Gnoblars. When the Ogres are out of earshot they are immensely proud of their independence, and some even boast no Ogre would dare tell them what to do. They look down on the Gnoblars that are slaves to the Ogres, calling them 'bootlickers', 'codpiece shiners' and worse.

Torch-Gnoblars

A small, scared and profoundly deaf group of Gnoblars serve the Leadbelchers of Ogre Armies. Some of these unfortunates are carried into battle on the shoulders of their masters, lighting the cannons with torches. A Gnoblar's unique mix of curiosity and stupidity doesn't go well with black powder, as every Torch-Gnoblar has scars from at least one explosion.

Scrappers

The Scrappers, also known as Magpies are the merchants and inventors in Gnoblar culture. Due to the extreme poverty they live in Scrappers will get do anything to get anything and travel to various tribes on a Rhinox-driven caravan, trading, selling and buying possessions. Gross incompetence, theft and constant bickering are just some of the factors stacked against budding Gnoblar inventors.

Woodbellies

This group will only accept the most important looking or biggest Gnoblars. They are the enforcers and self-appointed leaders of shanty towns. Being totally subservient to the Irongut masters who are the source of their power. But, at heart they are still weak-willed toadies, but eventually they'll develop into obsessed sycophants.

Lords

Gnoblars elevated to this lofty and protected position call themselves Lords and are able to strut around the camp bullying all but the largest of their kind. To becoma a Lord an Ogre must develop a fondness to a particular Gnoblar, by biting it in the ear to make them their property. The more they enjoy abusing power, the more paranoid they become about keeping their master happy and protecting their privileged position.

Bullies

Their appearance varies greatly and depends largely on what they can scavenge or bully. Most of the Bullies serve Ogrers and have long, floppy ears and huge noses. Though they are quite cowardly, only bullying Gnoblars smaller than them and becoming quiet and discreet whenever a significantly bigger Gnoblar is around.

Tooth-Gnoblars

The Tooth-Gnoblars are possibly the least envied of the Gnoblars that serve a master because they employ violence and torture for the simply joy of cruelty and to maintain order. Despite this, many Gnoblars are keen to serve the Butchers, keenly aware that this status grants them free access to the best food and opportunities to watch the practice of Gut Magic. However, this optimism rapidly disappears as they are used more as tools than aquaintances.

Hope this provides interesting for many.

I havent read the WD article that covers this in a while, I hope it isnt a word for word copy though, as that would infringe on the copyright and forum rules.

It's not word for word. It's just letting people know who haven't got it basically.

Still it's pretty close to being so and since it's existing GW fluff, not your own work, I think you should close this thread.
