Default Modeling the repeater handgun?

When I see the Outrider handgun, it looks sort of like a medieval assault cannon and I don't like the appearance. My question is what other way would be acceptable to model a Repeater Handgun? Would it be acceptable to model it like a late 19th century repeater gun (like say the Lebel or the Kar 98k)?

Well, a Kar 98 is a bolt actions and no one in the Empire really has developed a bolt action rifle, yet. Not even dwarves have.

I am not a fan of the multi-barreled design though, as it looks to bulky and unelegant...come to think of it, that's my main issue with steampunkish design in general.

Some sort of spring-gun, or with an ammo-feed. The originial idea I had was I wanted to model an Empire army based off a Wehrmacht cavalry force, with lots of Mauser-styled bolt-actions but seeing as bolt actions aren't allowed...

Hmm, how about: we go back a bit and stick to an old world handgun, then make double barrels/nozzels onto it?

I don't want multiple barrels/nozzles, except maybe for a repeater pistol (something similar to a Colt revolver), or the Brace of Pistols (double-barreled shotgun).

Or for the repeater rifles, a flintlock as opposed to matchlock design would be ideal...or failing that wheellock works as well. Or the gun could be an air-rifle (as back then, the idea of using a pressurized air-tank was seriously considered for making repeater guns...the only problem would be if the tank cracked, causing the oxygen to depressurize and the tank to explode.)

But you said you disliked steampunk, right?

Or am I confused?

Steampunk in my book is having all sorts of bizarre steam-tech in impractical manner...the weapon ideas I wish to have a more historical basis.

Well, let's say you could try and model a wheellock rifle.
