Default Old Bloods; 9 S5 Attacks!?

Got the Lizardmen book today.

I love Oldbloods!.

Oldblood; 460 Points
Maiming Shield,
Scimitar of the Sun,
Spawnings of Itzl and Sotek,
Carnasaur.

I reckon thats a bargain at 460 Points when you compare it to most Griffon/Dragon mounted Lords. hard to match with anything else in the game. Plus the Carnasaur is IMO the coolest looking model in the game.

I'm really tempted for an army based around that guy now.

9 S5 Attacks on the Charge, with 4 S6.
Then -
8 S5 Attacks, with 5 S6.

Yes it is a beast. Of course you have to remember that you won't loose your blood frenzy so will have little control over him when he's had his first meal. And the carnasaur only has a medicore weapon skill as well.

On the plus side when you do get frenzy on the charge that's 9 S5 attacks and 5 S6 attacks.

I would be tempted to buy a spawning of quetzle for some more durability as well.

But keep in mind that strength is more iportant in warhammer than the number of attacks. Only having Strength 5 is not that great. I played such a general when the lizardmen were redone, but he can not stand up to other characters.
So try to slam him into units without strong characters, because there he will feel at home >

S5 is a match for the vast majority of characters in the game, better than a lot. S6 is rare on characters and S7 is usually only with a great weapon which means striking last.

I agree that he is ideal for hacking through large blocks of infantry though.

No sorry my Ogre Tyrant could rip him apart in a challenge ( just fought the same build last week). Sorry. But I tell you what I have seen him go through scores or chaos warriors by him self.

Yeah, but Tyrants are 5 wound killing machines :P, he should tear through most Brettonian, Wood Elf, Empire, High Elf, Dark Elf, Orc, Goblin, Skaven, Dogs of War, Dwarf and even a fair few Vamps and Chaos Lords.

He is best for hacking down whole units, but he is no slouch in a challenge either.

And we must not forget Vampire Blood Dragons... I saw one in action today in a game between Vampire counts and orks... He was thrown into a battle between a skeletons unit and two giants... (Yes, two ) He almost killed the giant in one round of combat! (The giant only lived with one wound remaining)

I'm not too fond of the carnosaur. Too uncontrolable with Blood frenzy and also can draw a lot of fire. Try using the Charm of the Jaguar warrior. I think Saurus characters can use that and it would give him a charge range of 18". Perfect for surprise attacks.
