My little brother recently invested in a unit of Wood Elf archers (glade guard I think they're called?) from eBay and a friend of mine keeps telling me how much better the Warhammer rules are in comparison to 40k so I figured why not start playing the game?
First thing I need to know is how easy are Wood Elves to play? My brother isn't the most brilliant tactician around and I don't want him put off the game by having a hard army. Any advice on starting up a Wood Elf army, basic tactics, sample lists, what to give (or not to give) to champions/heros etc would be brilliant! I've taken a look at a few of the "starting beastmen" type threads here so I think I'm pretty set for starting out, any tactical advice would be nice though. On another note what edition Rule and Army Books are used these days? 6th? Thanks in advance! ~Zenith

7th edition rules, Empire and O&G have been upgraded so far. (And dwarves and wood elves will be a while off as well)
Wood Elves are an army that is different to normal armies, there's a lot more shooting than combat and you will need to outmanuveur your opponents to win. They aren't the hardest Elf army to play I don't think but they aren't the space marines of warhammer. here are a few links that should help you: Wood elf tactics. Forest spirit tactics Asari tactics Ambusher tactics A good read Fighting against wood elves In addition I would reccoment taking a look at asrai.org whihc is a wood elf dedicated forum with loads of info, tactics and combo's ther.Though I will warn you that there are a few cheesy lists and powergamers there so be careful.

Thanks heaps! My brother has always preferred archers over warriors. I can always tell when hes been playing Zelda because I'm out of arrows :-\.
Those links were really helpful too. I think its time to invest in a rulebook and some army books.

Well a shooty army can be very effective, Waywatchers, glade guard and glade riders in it. I woul suggest taking some combat units for variety though as well.
