I love the imagery of these guys...does anyone know when the army book is coming out? I consider it unfair that Ogre kingdoms get a book first. I mean, they don't even get Pikemen!!!!!

It will probably be ages away as it was one of the last done in the last edition.

Still there are rules for them in the annual and everytime a new unit comes out they get rules published in a WD.

Dogs of wars are one of my favourite armies, i prefer the regular unit over the regiments of renown though.

**please don't kill me!**

they may not be bringing out a book for them, they may actually bring out a chaos dwarf book before the DoW......

the roll call on releases is

late this year: Ugly Kingdoms....oops sorry I meant Ogre
Half way through next year: Rise of Sotek (campaign set in Lustria with jungle fight rules, mainly involving Lizardmen and Skaven but HE and DE are getting in as well) This will also see the release of plastic models for Plague Monks, Lizardmen Cavalry, Elven bolthrowers and some special rules which may supercede the current rules (maybe like a point cost drop for phoenix guard?)
end of next year: Wood Elves and release of all them
Half way the year after that: ????????

does that help?

Ogre Kingdoms are of value to us sell-swords: some of those Ogres may be tempted to join your army if you wave big bags of gold coin infront of them...

At least 3 of the new ogre units are dogs of war (and also dogs of war are in each and every annual) including the rather nasty looking cannon wielding ogres

Just to show I'm not a one-trick Tau...*

The Dogs of War can be one of the most effective armies around, but the general consensus is to stick with the "rank and file" troopers over the Regiments of Renown.* The RoR usually cost too much, are sometimes inconvenient (or useless), and usually don't do the job as well as a Vanilla Wardog can.

Just remember your weaknesses:* Lack of magical "goodies" and a dangerous weakness in the brute artillery firepower department (compared to the Empire or Dwarven armies).

I could say a few things, but for tactics and possibilities the best I could recommend is to visit the Empire.com site's "Mercenaries of the Empire" page.* It has an excellent breakdown of the various units and their usefulness, and isn't restricted to just use with the Empire (though it is written in that regard).*

Good luck with your forces!

I didn't know that you couldn't take characters in Pikemen units....now, Mercenaries had just better have a swordsman unit when they get a new army book.

I quite glad that chaos dwarves are coming out first, they are one of the few armies i don know much about.

There is already a perfectly good DOW and ROR list which can get us by untill the army book comes out.

'At least 3 of the new ogre units are dogs of war'

What do you mean by this?, have you seen the book and they have an optionto be fielded in dogs of war armies, if so awesome.
