Default Lizardmen 2000 pt list

Lord:
2nd Generation Slann Mage-Priest- Plaque of Tepok, Divine plaque of protection (joined to saurus in Palanquin formation)

Heroes:
skink priest- lvl 2
skink priest- lvl 2

Core:
22 skinks- scouts
22 skinks- scouts
21 skinks- scouts

Special:
4 kroxigar
3 kroxigar
16 Saurus- blessed spawning of tlazcotl (joined to Slann)

Rare:
Stegadon

Total: 1998

Heroes:
skink priest- lvl 2, dispel scroll
skink priest- lvl 2, dispel scroll

IMO as it is the seccond is beter. But both can be improved.

The first list lose the saurus to take diadem of power and some dispel scrolls on the skinks, also you can get more skinks. Also change the stegadon for 3 salamanders. The slan is more survivable on his own than stuck in a big overpriced slow unit of saurus.

Second list be southlands to take 5 priests, and more magic items like diadem of power and more scrolls. Change 2 steagadons for 6 salamanders. Drop squads of 4 kroxogor down to squads of 3. Also make all skink squads in both armys 10 man.


Althow even without these changes your lists are harder than the average list you would expect to see at a GW vet night. And fairly average compared to tornament lists.

I've got to disagree. I'd say put the Slaan in a unit of Temple Guard saurus (Stubborn=love) and I prefer Saurus to skinks, so maybe I'm out of place... gotta say I prefer the 4 skink priests to the Slaan, but thats just me.

Why 20+ big units of skinks? Skirmishers count in small amounts. Small units of poison-shoot'n insanity, backed up by a couple of saurus blocks will make for an unoriginal yet undefeatable list, which means fun in two ways.

Blocks of spear-armed saurus are comparable to khorne warriors in CC. That means they're good.

Small units of poisoned blowpipe scouting skinks are just annoying, and can easily kill big things with lots of wounds (giants, shaggoths, ogre heroes...)

In what way does than mean there good?

There is a reason the UKGT is constanytly won my lizzard armys with no saurus and people who use saurus and khorn infantry never make it above the bottom tables.

As for the temple guard thing, that's a full 5 pts a model towards leadership. I figure the blessed spawning of tlazcotl will do almost as good for only 1 1/4 pts per model. And Next Time, are you sure that flyers won't go slaughter the slann without a squad of saurus to engulf him? Perhaps I should give him the Pha's Illumination spell? Plus, without saurus I'll have to keep him in the back, instead of him moving in on enemy wizards and then rendering them useless with the Drain Magic spell. And as for the large units of skinks, that's my way of being cheap. Instead of paying for two units of skinks having scouts, I pay for one.

P.S. Next Time- could you go inot detail of why salamanders are better than steggies?

I'm not so sure about not taking Saurus. We have a pretty kick ass Lizardmen player here and he has a pretty good # of Saurus

There's really two seperate main army types when it comes to lizardmen: My first list type, and an all saurus list (save for the rare choices). An oldblood on a carnasaur for a Lord maxed out with dispel scrolls, 2 scar-vets on cold ones maxed out with dispel scrolls, saurus with spears for core and Saurus on cold ones and saurus with spears and b spaning of queztl for special. I don't see how this works compaired to good 'ol skinks. Seems like they'd be pulverised by stone throwers. Speaking of which, is the Engine of the Gods worth it, or should I just stick to my lizardmen warbook?

Has he won any mjor GT's?



The reason salamanders are generally cosiderd better is the lizzard army is a all skirmish avoidance army. The UKGT top 10 lizzard armys always include salamanders over stegadons. But stegadons are not worthless in the same way saurus are.
