Default Ok, easy question... I just need to know.

My question is this, t to the number of weapons a hero or lord may carry into battle? Assumingly he would only use one at a time but can they have more than one if they can afford it?

Got it in one, give them whatever you like but they can only use one weapon per combat. The same is true for troops, which is why I often give them great weapons and shields, as they can use the shields to survive long enough to use them.

Well, if you give them great weapons, hand weapons and shields, then at the start of a combat engagement you choose which you use, and that applies for that entire engagement

(EG if you charge a unit of goblins and opt to use a great axe, you are stuck with it until that combat is resolved and yu have either died or moved onto the next one)

So what character from what army are you trying to apply this to (I may be able to give you further advice)

In realioty it does not states in the army book.

Indeed you are allowed to take 2 weapons on a hero, by example give a 2 handed weapon and a shield, (let's say he has Heavy armor and mounted in a horse) he has AS of 3+ and 2+ if he uses the shield, at the start of the combat you MUST say what weapon he will use if he use the 2 handed weapon he'll use that weapon until the enemy dies, flees or your unit dies or flees as well, in other words untild that battle ends.

You must be carefull as some people forgets this, so is good to always ask as some not all people when uses the 2 handed weapon still give the 2+ save as he was using the shield (something that is not legal at all).

You can do it but be carefull not to fall into this, as well as the person you are playing against.

Does that include magic items not designated as two handed, e.g. chaos bezerker sword / high elf foe bane - as several people tell me that this doesn't count as a hand weapon when using it with a shield. Are they wrong?

Magic weapons specified if they are 1 handed or 2 handed weapon, however you can't by any means have 2 magic weapons on the same hero, but you can take a magic weapon and a shield.
