Why the WS? So they don't get hit on 3s in CC?

Gaunts with Spinefists.... thats it. It is effective with enough shots, and you shouldn't make gaunts that gung-ho IMHO. Use them as scoring units, as well as meat shields for mid-bugs...

I think you'd be better off with the classic, 5-point Spinegaunts. They're going to lose in CC most of the time versus most armies anyway due to their lackluster Toughness and almost non-existent armor save; I don't think your improved WS will help that much.

believe or not but it's gaunts that are the terminator killer. their main advantage is that they're cheap.the advantage of that is that you can take a ridiculous amount of them. that m,any attacks just means terminators are going to rll a 1

The problem is that you will lose combat and then they will die by failing armor saves. So each wound will basically end up 1 and 5/6 wounds-one or two that you kill. if you are in synapse range. If your not in synapse range then sweeping advance. Also does not work against chaos termies with power weapons as they stirke first unless you have + initiative. that is in assault. oh and do not forget the stormbolters if you do not charge will make really short work of a lot of gaunts.

actually, SM terminators may not sweeping advance, and I don't think chaos can either. this just goes under the heading of "throw enough attacks at it, and it will fall over dead". it just depends on how your army is built.

i thought the same thing, but then i realized i still would be hitting on 4's so it doesn't really make a difference for your attacks. the strength upgrade would be better, but the cost makes it not worth it.
