Default Well, The Bugs Have Got Me Too...

I shall be joining the endless legions of bug fans pretty soon.

But I'm doing things slightly different. My mates who plays nids hates all the fluff around Ultramrines, so I am going to paint my nids in ultramarines colours, complete with U's on the shoulders (all 4 shoulders). I'm probably going to do zilla with mass gaunts and warriors for support. What are some of the more advisable set ups?

Sounds like a pretty standard list. I enjoy standard lists, they are fluffy and fairly effective, giving a lot of options.

I guess it's time to start preparing for all the new players to Tyranids with the codex releasing soon.

Thought it'd get that kind of response....

I just thought it'd be a fun idea, and my carnifex is going to be armed with crushing claws with ranged weapons mounted underneath the claws....

Hey, they're not nearly as overused as space marines

Keep in mind you might want to run those CC fexes every turn because no one is going to let them get into combat while they're moving a steady 6" a turn. A really cool (and cost efficient) loadout is scything talons, barbed strangler, tusks, and adrenal glands (WS and I). That way they're not useless against green tide, but still pack plenty of attacks AND manage to strike quicker than powerfists, instead of having to go simultaneously.

Also, gaunts provide great cover for warriors against most armies, but keep in mind that a lot of units can see clear over them, so occasionally you'll need to throw your warriors behind your fexes to avoid the perils of bolter fire or eldar missile launchers, depending on your save. Oh, and tool your warriors differently so you may allocate wounds separately. my favorite is rending claws/barbed strangler, rending claws/scything talons, and rending claws/lash whips.

If you're going to paint the whole thing with an Ultramarine theme, I think you should go the extra mile and make your entire army focused on shooting.

No one would expect it!
