Default What to use to weigh down gaunts ??

So some of my gaunts seem to not want to stand up right. they dend to tip over and was wondering what to use to make them more stable. I use to put nickles on my tau but tyranid models have that little slit in the base.

So what do you guys use for this problem ???

well... you could find little metal bits and cram them in the sides of the base between the edge of the round base and the slotted piece... But that takes a bit of effort so... Not sure =D

You could try using fishing weights (aka sinkers) superglued to the hollow area of the base on either side of the slot. I tried using them to balance a tau hammerhead railgun, and while it didn't work for that, it might help your gaunts. fishing weights come in lots of sizes, some of them really small.

The usual base weight, which I use for my kroot, are pennies, but that's tricky with the slotta bases. I suppose you could cut them in half if you have the tools, but that seems like more work than it's worth. Depending on how wide the slot is you might also have to grind the flat side down a bit. Possible, but not much fun.

I chopped open some old shotguns shells and pulled out the lead shot. Six or eight balls and some superglue at the very back end and voila.

I ain't telling what I did with the powder. ;D

I use thebits I remove from the base of some of the metal models as well as the metal vents as weight to balance my model. I simply glue it on the underside on the side opposite to the dipping one.

Pennies superglued to the bottom work too. You could get cheap metal washers too. But they increase the height of the model on the board by a little.

I was considering getting some lead putty, plumber's sealant stuff, and cramming it into the hollow areas of the base and giving that a try to see if it's heavy enough to do the trick without adding to the model height. Haven't done so yet though.

I used pennies in mine. They don't fit in a slotted base so I cut them in half (actually I cut a strip out of each one and the two halves aren't the same size so that it will fit properly). They are now very well balanced to the point that you cant actually tip many of them over because they just reright themselves. It is very difficult to cut pennies though. The only thing I found that worked well was a bolt cutter.

^^^ This

If its not a slotta, pennies fit perfectly and hold down models really well. My kroot are worth so much more than regular kroot because of this :P

Tungsten.

It's denser than lead and so will give you more weight with less space. With these disks you can place the weight where it's needed on the slotta bases. I used them on my hormagaunts and my zoanthrope too.
