Default Magnetized Mayhem!

I have seen many threads dealing in some way with magnetized body parts for Tyranids. I am about to start a tyrannid army myself and was wondering what would be the most useful things to add magnets too. I will only use magnets for practical means such as switching out weapons on my Carnifex/Hive Tyrant. Please tell me where I should add magnets.

http://www.tauonline.org/Article/115...trousCreature/

That is the main source of pretty much all the magnetic conversions I've seen on here...

Easily missed, since not many people actually know we have a site outside of the forums, but an invaluable tool. The stickied topic here http://forums.tauonline.org/index.ph...c,22099.0.html has the link + tons of additional tacticas and entries to help make more than just a model.

Hope you use the info well and succeed in making your own highly mutagenic carnifexi to add to your hive fleet's prowess! (Not that I, as a Tau player, can "officially" say we condone better/more flexible opponents. As a player I say go with the best and save money in the process! )

Edit- Apparently there was a bit in the conversion board as well. It's easier on my eyes with my TO version, so you might want to use this one instead.

I was actually looking for what units that should be magnetized (Should I spend time magnetizing gaunts/Must Magnetize Carnifex/and should I magnetize warriors?) I've all of those articles (While looking for infomation on how to use all the seperate units) and just wanted to know that outside of aesthetic changes what are the most useful technical changes that can be made (I.E. Change of weapons/purpose)

Thanks All,
TyrannicalHiveMind

I would imagine that Tyrants and Carnifexi are all worthwhile being magnetized.
Warriors would depend on your personal preferences and/or numbers available.

I think it'd be a waste for gaunts imo, I'm a Tau player though so I don't know Nids all that well in this regard. I just think that if a player needs to change gaunts that much they just haven't hit upon the correct build/number to use. :P

I only play Tau and Daemons, but my son has dabbled in 'Nids. I wouldn't bother magnetizing anything but your Monstrous Creatures. Carnifexes and Hive Tyrants have a sick number of weapon combinations, so the magnets make sense there. There's a good tutorial somewhere about "making a magnetic monstrous creature" that describes the carnifex. Gaunts aren't worth worrying about, as most friendly opponents will let them be armed with whatever you want them to be. I think you'll quickly determine a favorite weapons configuration for them, then you can build the rest of your models that way.

Yeah, Monstrous Creatures are generally the only things you're going to magnetize. Carnifexes and Tyrants are the main ones, since they have so many options/playstyles and you really don't want to have to have a different model for every different weapon combo. Even then, some things you won't even need to magnetize (I don't know many people who use the different carapace options on the fex, and you may not need to magnetize all the heads etc.)

The only other one I would even thing about magnetizing are Warriors. They get pretty much the same amount of options as the Carnifex and Tyrant. Though, that's just me.

Maybe Raveners as well, but that's kinda doubtful. I'd just stick to your Monstrous Creatures.

Raveners? You only get Rending Claws and Scything Talons, or Two Scything Talons. Then maybe a ranged weapon. Not much.

With the Warriors, you have the TS, Wings, the gland, Senses, Carapace, then all the weapons. Part of me wishes I had magnatized my Warriors.

Nids = most customizable army
Magnets = To allow your army to be the most customizable army
