Not really, stealers are a vanguard, biovores are more like something for a full attack.

But if you want to use them, warp their fluff.

Remember, their sporemines that they launch are considered a kill point for the opponent...

Gorechild, use logic. Biovore, and artillery piece, Genestealers, scouts/infiltrators...

Preliminary bombardment?

Artillery through scout spotting?

i would go with no, in the tyranid genus they are close.....but they serve totally different battlefield roles, raveners would be a closer fit IMHO

If you want preliminary bombardment take a swarm of sporemines...

So making sure I understand what was said... if I use a biovore, shoot and hit someone in the enemy ranks, (and according to WH40K Tyranid FAQ) it blows up, they count it as a point? Or do they only count it as a point if they shoot it? If they shoot it does it explode and then resolve as normal? If so, why not use 3 biovores, launching into similar areas... with that result you would have a healthy explosion unless you roll ungodly bad.

Maybe I don't understand how they would be used but with the possibility of not fielding the Gene's until round 5 or start them on the table (with scuttling?) I would think their strength would once again be in mass.

I've played Biovore spore-mines as a kill point only if they scatter and end up an actual spore mine model on the table. If they blow up as soon as they are launched because they hit their target and explode, then I haven't counted them as a kill point - making it risky, but not guaranteed to generate a kill point.

But I would also concur that Biovores aren't really fluffy for a vanguard stealer list - FA Spore Mines I could see as part of the preliminary bombardment though.
