Default Army idea: Rebel Grotz.

Oy, listen up ladz. I is a greenskin enthusiast and wants to use an army-o-gobbos fer shootin' stuff.

Translation: I am interested in using the Nid rules to represent an army of Grot rebels; the Tyranid rules seem so adaptable to representing a green tide of goblins, and I have several unit analogues in mind.

The Flyrant would be a Dragon-squig riding Goblin chief with an enchanted staff (Bonesword), the squigon being able to breathe fire (Barbed Strangler)
Forest-Grot spider riders would be Warriors with Flesh Hooks, Leaping, and Bio-plasma
Rank-and-file grots (Gaunts) would be the order of the day, them having enough grot blastas (spinefists) to fire them akimbo.
Snotling swarms would be represented by ripper swarms.
Devourers would be Grot Squig-hoppers, bouncing across the battlefield and tearing into enemy ranks.
Goblin Doom Divers (Spore Mines) would be launched from a Doom Diver Catapult (Biovore), and float about until they decided to crash-land their foes.

Does the concept sound plausible?

It's a thought, if not a means to get a secondary means out of a fantasy O&G army. At any rate, an army of Squig-hoppers in 40k is my cup of tea; its a shame Tyranids don't really have rules for representing Snotling Pump-wagons though.

That's an awesome idea.

What about genestealers, though? Is there some comparable squig/squig rider you could use to represent this unit? It would be smaller than the warrior, with maybe two riders on it to make up for the number of attacks this unit dishes out. The Broodlord would be the squig/squig rider larger than the rest, on a medium base.

Also, the mighty Carnifex. You wouldn't happen to have read the comic "Super Sluts", the edition with the ork triple can? The orks had welded the tops of three Kans together to make a super, triple kan. Only one of the kans was walking, the others up in the air, the body forming a giant T. You could probably find the comics if you looked on Google or something. Its the same comic that had the boss who was, "...da prettiest." You could probably grab three killa-kans and green stuff their tops together and count them as a Carnifex (It's goblins riding those smaller ones, right?).

Then you've got the Zoanthropes. You could probably use an old 2nd edition IG sentinel and put a grot in it, with lots of plasticard armor representing the 2+ armor save. The synapse would we be represented by a load of vox-caster equipment and loud speakers, sort of like a propaganda vehicle to keep the grots in line. Then just put a huge cannon on it to represent the warp blast. Say that the perils of the warp test is really a reliability test for the cannon to see if it blows up.

The last to examples I gave were more mechanical though. I don't know how well that would work with a grot only army without a mek-boy around.

I was originally thinking of having Gobbo shamans as the Zoanthropes, casting Warp Blast as a form of "Fist of Gork" or "Mork wants ya". I'm not sure what to do for Genestealers though; at first I wanted to use them as Night Goblin Fanatics (with Ball and Chain), but it didn't seem right for them to be so...fast. The Carnifexes are easily moddable into Squiggoths though, so I'm not complaining.
