Default minor unclarity

yes, its me again, my brother's voice on the net.

he wishes to compile a unit of warriors as follows:
[hr]
X1

Venom Cannon + Scything Claws, Enhanced senses

Points:35

X4

Devourer + Rending claws, Toxin Sacs, Enhanced Senses

Points: 132
[hr]
confusion arose over wording in the codex: "tyranid warrior broods may choose biomorphs from the list below, paying the points listed per model. Each warrior within that brood must then choose 2 weapon-symbiotes at the cost listed, and no more, but these may differ within the brood" (pg 37)

does this mean that each warrior in the brood needs to have the same biomorphs, or can they pick and choose like with weapon-symbiotes?

they can have different weapons; hence the barbed strangle; you can have only one, so you should be able to mix weapons in a squad. For the upgrade biomorphes...I don't know for sure...I never wanted to have different set-ups within a squad so...but I guess you can have different biomorph combinations within a squad..

maybe someone else knows more about that one?

Biomorphs must be the same throughout the unit. Of this I am certain. Weapon-symbiotes, however, do not, although it's often more tactically effecient to keep the unit equipped similarly, with the obvious exception of Barbed Stranglers and Venom Cannons.

All Warriors in brood have to have the same biomorphs. You choose biomorphs for the brood, then choose weapons for each warrior.

co-sign that.

So plan your warriors in the following fashion.

"A mixed group, a Ranged group, a Combat group"

pick which one you want to aim for and then give then the biomoprhs you want for the unit as a whole to make them effective and then you can pick and choose which weapons u want to equip them with. Examples would be

For a combat group you can have some with rending claws and talons, or 2 sets of talons and such.

for ranged you could add in a heavy weapon like a VC or BS, and then have some models in the brood equip deathspitters while others equip devourers or anything else you may want.

just make sure that the biomorphs you choose enhance the great majority of the models in the unit. Choosing enhanced senses for a unit that is mainly composed of CC warriors would be a waste for example.

As others have said you need the same bio-morphs, but can field different weapon-symbiotes. So the configuration is almost legal, you would need to put toxin sacs on the Venom Cannon Warrior.
