Default Kill Points: Zoanthropes, Lictors and Biovores

Hey guys, quick question. For lictors, zoanthropes and biovores, is each single model worth a killpoint, or must your opponent kill (up to) all three of them?

I'm leaning towards you have to kill all of them, as the codex says you deploy them as a "single unit."

Just like the other multiple unit, one FOC selection things you get one killpoint for each.

They form separate units, but deploy in a single bunch. (Unless the codex specifically states that they areone unit.)

Your interpretation is correct, you have to kill all the Zoanthropes to get 1 kill point. It's just like Space Marines breaking their tactical squads up into combat squads. You have to kill both of the combat squads to get that point.

Sorry Fuzzy but you are incorrect on this one. BOB clearly states under Multiple Unit Choices "Note that occasionally the Codexes allow the player to include several units in his army at the cost of a single force organization slot (like dedicated transports, etc.). Apart from being bought as a single choice, these units operate and count as seperate units in all respects."

This means that a Tau player with a squad of Pathfinders and a Devilfish counts as 2 kill points not one. A unit of Space Marines that breaks into combat squads counts as 2 kill points not 1. And Zoanthropes count as 1 kill point for each 1 on the table, so if you took 3 in a slot they would be worth a total of 3 kill points if they all died.

It's a touchy rule, to say the least. My advice would be to simply talk to whoever you're playing before the game and get their take on it, and roll with that. Personally, I would be more inclined to believe that you would have to kill the whole unit for the kill point... however, almost every army has some stupid glitch in the kill point system (biovore launched spore mines?). In friendly games, you're better off playing with the old Victory Points system. Ask tournament supervisors what their take of it would be if you're playing in a tournament setting.

And Nox, that talks about separate units (dedicated transports, combat squads). Lictors, Zoanthropes, and Biovores are all one unit, they just operate independently. It's a sticky situation.

No, I'm almost sure they're only one FOC selection. I know for a fact Lictors are, not 100% on the other two.

Otherwise they'd have seperate unit text like the "combat squads" text.

I don't find this a grey area at all. Just like Tau Sniper drone teams or the like, you get 1 KP a unit, not per FOC choice.

All three have slightly different wording for their rules. I hope this isn't against the rules, but here are the 3 sentences in question.

Biovores- "Biovores are deployed a a single unit"

Thropes- "Zoanthropes are deployed as a single unit, but do not need to be placed together, and opera independently during the game."

Lictors- "They do not need to be placed together, and operate independently during the game."

I would take that to mean that for Biovores and Thropes, all 3 are required to get a KP, but each lictor is worth a KP.

Actually, by your wording so far (if those three are equally as complete in writing) then the Biovores are the only ones that wouldn't net a 1-for-1 KP exchange.

Wallus is correct on the wording, and Enderwiggin is correct about the Kp.
Biovores: entire unit = 1kp total
Zoanthropes and lictors = 1kp each model.

Huh, yeah, I went back and read it and you're right. I've just been going by how they play it down at my local store and never bothered to read it myself. I trusted them because I wasn't being screwed over. Good call though, now I have a reason to go after rhinos until they're actually destroyed instead of just immobilized. Of course, this will make my Zoanthropes a juicier target which is not cool.
