Default Instinctive behaviour

Just something that has confused me a bit. From what I can gather a unit suffers from instinctive behaviour unless stated otherwise??

Unless the brood is Fearless, has Brood Telepathy, or has a creature within 12" of a Synapse Creature, you'll be under the effect of Instinctive Behavior.

Are you sure about the Fearless bit? Instinctive behavior is a Leadership Test, not a Morale check. I don't think Fearless applies. So things like Lictors and Carnifexes are subject to the IB rules.

It's in the errata for 5th edition. Fearless now nullifies IB.

Just out of curiosity could I get a link to that errata??

I'd also like to point you towards the stickies area. The FAQ can also be found there.

I'd also like to point out that you only are affected by IB if and only IF you decide to move the unit, you can always just sit still

There are penalties to lurking, however. For example, you can't hold an objective with a lurking unit.

He's not referring to lurking. He's referring to the wording of the IB rule. Basically, if you want to move them, you must roll a Ld test or suffer IB. The rule then says, "Alternatively, you may lurk." To many of us, that means, "You can do action A, or action B." Several folks here also think you can do "None of the above". While I can see where they are coming from, I feel that interpretation relies too much on a language trick more than anything else. At the very least, be sure your opponent understands your reading of the rule, and if at a tournament, be sure to check with the judges before hand to find out. Nothing sucks the fun out of a game more than having your opponent spring a tortured/misinterpreted reading of a rule on you mid-game. Especially if it is an honest mistake.
