Yes, but I'm not sure it's legal; see the Know Your Enemy topic.

Venom cannons can also only cause glancing hits - but im sure you were aware of that already

I'd prefer something that can penetrate - i really prefer to destroy something that leave it still there immoblised (like a basilisk) or blowing off a weapon (like a rhino). I play necrons so i get a lot of glancing hits - a nice ability but i really would like some more penetrating hits!

*enter's heavy destroyers*

ahh....strength 9 - take that vindicators everywhere!

A carnifix with 2 venom cannons is very anti-C'tan, anti-monolith, anti-skimmers(seeing as you only get glancing anyway).

not 2 mention that this guy can take down a chaos lord like he's nothing unless he has that dam rune.

But if he doesnt he's bound to fail atleast 1 save and die.

The only problem is that its lacking ap but imagine 3 flex with veno's 2 tyrant with veno's and a bunch of warriors with venos and then rending rippers.

3 flex is 12 str 10 shots pretty nice seeing as u just glance it doesnt matter much cuz u glance 4 times.

2 tyrant is what 6 str 8 shots each? so 12 shots at str 8 from tyrants. Watch the marines die as they fail thier saves. u dont even have 2 roll 2 wound which is very nice just hit and save. say 1 tyrant shoot 6 shots in2 some marines that means 2 marines will die.

And with the fact that nids dont need to pass priority checks this gets sexy as hell!

The 1 thing you will have problems with are 2+ saves but the rippers can handle them.

What exactly do you mean by "don't have to roll to wound"? I was under the impression that if you got an instagib, you still have to roll to wound, they just lose all their wounds instead of one. Then again, I'm a bit of a n00b, so it could just be I misread the rools...

I think you may have read it wrong Orion
The rulebook states:

"If a creature is wounded by something which has a strength value of double their toughness value or greater and fail their save, they are killed outirght and removed as a casualty"

So you have to roll to wound, and if you wound an armour save is made, and if they fail then the model is killed outright
