Well the tournament was today, just got back.
As the title says it was called the 500pts fair play tournament so everything goes Smile (1hq and 2 troops where ofcourse compulsory but other than that no restrictions) My armylist was as follows: Tyrant, wings, rending, talons Deviltyrant Devilfex 2*1 Raveners (rending) 2*3 Rippers I did originally have 3 different lists, 1 had 4 shooty MCs tyrant and 3 fexs, another was otherwise the same except 1 shooty fex was replaced by 3 raveners, in the end I could not decide so I let the dice decide and I ended up with the above list. Though to be honest I felt the other 2 where both better against wraithlords and I knew I would meet a few....... a few my arse! I met 10! in 7 games lol. GAME 1 Anyway Off we went at 10am for the first game and wouldnt you know it the opponent was eldar and had: Farseer Wraithlord (starcannon) Wraithlord (starcannon) Wraithlord (starcannon) 2*8 guardian defenders. Mission was Gamma cleanse, Table was full of forrests, pretty decent for me as some fire lanes where blocked by forrests and the 5+ cover save is never bad for my MCs. Won't go into all the turns but basically my opponent moved his wraithlords up, 2 on the right flank 1 on the left with the farseer and a guardian squad in the center (in 4+ cover), last guardian squad on the left flank. I sent a tyrant and a ravener up the right, shooty fex and tyrant up the center (5+ cover from forrest) and some rippers up the left. My shooty fex and tyrant shot 2 wounds onto a wraithlord on the right, I then charged the unwounded one up that flank with the tyrant and ravener, they did 4 rending wounds, the ravener then rolled badly for consolidation and was left in the open and shot the following turn. The tyrant consolidated into the 1 wound wraithlord and killed it in the next assualt phase. The last wraithlord then started backing up the center as did the guardians and farseer. A few turns later the rippers on the left caught the guardians and killed them, the wraithlord was shot down a wound or 2 and the tyrant killed it in CC. The farser was the last thing alive and took a good volley from an angry fex that it mindward a wound from in the previous turn. All up I lost 2 raveners and killed the entire enemy army so it was a massacre win for me. GAME 2 Next opponent was a Chaos player (apparantly you could bring several lists and choose which one you use before each game, well this was the only opponent who chose to do so, myself and everyone else I played kept with 1. Anyway he chose to use 4 tac squads with various heavy weapons, rokkets, lascannons, heavy bolters and plasmaguns against me. He also had a naked lord (where was the kai gun?) Well again terrain worked in my favour, he split his forces all through his deployment and this allowed me to stay out of los of most of his guns. Winged tyrant went up the left flank and made it into CC without even being shot (despite my opponents attempt to run from it) On the right flank the 2 shooty MCs shot up 2 tac squads in 2 turns. Can't remember what my raveners did this game. Again another massacre for me, oh right the mission was secure and control with 5 counters, I held 4 at the end of the game (only have 5 scoring units to begin with! and he shot 1 fex down to 1 wound) GAME 3 Agaist my good mate Tom and his cheeselords....I mean eldar yea: Avatar Wraithlord (starcannon) Wraithlord (brightlance) Wraithlord (shurican cannon) 2*5 guardian defenders Mission was recon gamma. I knew I would meet this army of his at one point which is why I wanted to use one of the other 2 lists originally (little did I know these where not the only wraithlords I would meet) but I let the dice decide in the beggining and it was not to be, the DICE told me to use a winged tyrant! The table had los blocking terrain but NO cover giving terrain to speak of! Well we both knew we had to get to the opponents are and we both knew if we wanted to we could have just walked past each other for a tie but I wasnt into ties. I figured with my 18" guns (and supperior guns to his) I could get into shooting range and just avoid CC to win. So we do this, 2 turns of shooting, him with his lance, starcannon and shurican cannon, me with my 20 reroll everything shots, he caused a few wounds onto a fex I caused a few wounds onto a WL. Then I somehow (no idea how) made a huge mistake. I let him charge me! still dont know how it happened, I just had to get inside 18" without going within 12" of him to avoid his charge yet he charged me on turn 3, 3 wraithlords and an avatar, they took out the tyrant on the charge then consolidated through my army, I killed 1 WL and wounded the avatar but that was about it. Massacre win for him after he walked into my deployment area. (1 mistake is all you need if you make one this big! I thought MAYBE his avatar that was 2-3" closer to me would get that charge, I thought that would be fine, let me take it out alone then shoot the wraithlords to death but it was not to be) GAME 4 Back to playing eldar, but no 3 Wraithlords this time. It was alaitoc: Avatar Wraithlord (starcannon) 3*rangers 3*rangers 3*rangers 3*rangers 3*pathfinders Yep 5 disruption rolls in 500pts... Well the mission was Take and Hold gamma (with infiltrate, in this tourny it was 4+ for infiltrate and deepstrike at the start of each game) Terrain was ok, big los blocking piece in the center and 2 small forrests on either side. We start with disruption and due to most of my army not really being effected he ended up putting my winged tyrant into reserve and pinning my 2 raveners. Opponent won first turn and took it to better position some troops, wraithlord jumped out of the forrest it was in. I didnt do much on turn 1 as I wanted all of my army on the table before I submitted myself to his sniper fire, I did start moving some rippers up the left flank towards a sniper unit (snipers do jack to rippers!) On turn 2 I moved out, shot 2 wounds onto the Wraithlord (yes nids rock at shooty! nothing like 20 shots with rerolls to hit and wound! I dont care if I need 6s to wound!) Enemy then unloads all possible snipers (all but 1 squad) on the fex and causes a measly 2 wounds (I was in 5+ cover) I move my winged tyrant up behind cover towards the center. On turn 3 I shoot the wraithlord down with the tyrant, move the 2 wound fex behind the tyrant so it cannot be shot, assualt 1 ravener into a sniper squad (other rolled too little in dif terrain to make the assualt) The ravener kills an entire sniper squad and consolidates into another! Raveners ROCK. Enemy then runs away with the pathfinders and tries to run from the rippers on the left flank with his rangers. Ravener finneshes 2nd sniper squad (1 ravener!!!....ok well snipers suck in CC but still) Enemy shoots up the ravener in the open causes only 1 wound) My tyrant and the other ranver assualt the avatar, it takes 3 wounds and kills the ravener. Last turn 3 rippers on left kill 3 rangers, 3 rippers on right kill 3 pathfinders and the tyrant finnishes the avatar off. Massacre victory for me. GAME 5 Opponent was SM he had 3 tac squads, a dreadnaught with assualt cannon and cc weapon and a naked lord (just like the chaos) Mission was Seek and destroy to my dismay. He deploys his whole army in the right corner of his deployment zone much to my annoyence as the center had a LARGE 4+ cover structure but he didnt want to have the fight there (clever bastard) Well the game starts with my first 2 turns going through the center cover while my opponent goes into some wierd marching parade configuration, he has 3*6 SMs walking in 3 lines with the dread at the head. turn 3 I get bored of walking around in cover and decide to go straight for the enemy (I didnt fear the opponent, only reason I left cover) Winged tyrant flies behind a forrest ready to assault....well anyone it wants the next turn. Tyrant and fex move out of cover and the enemy opens fire, Fex dies before it itself fires a shot! Tyrant takes 2 wounds the next enemies shooting turn but by then its all over, my winged tyrant is on them! Winged tyrant makes the mistake of going for the dread first (since the fex was the only one with a strong enough gun to shoot it) well it rolls 5 rending attacks, 4 hit, 3 pens, 1 miss. I roll a 6 and the dread explodes, but a 1" conolidation leaves the tyrant in the open! In the same turn a ravener attacked the squad with the HQ. It kills 2 the first turn while taking nothing back, SM HQ cannot even hit it! the 2 tac squads move in on the tyrant and rapid fire 10 bolters and 2 plasma guns at it! AAARH.....not it takes only 1 wound Smile Tyrant then assualts 1 squad while the walking tyrant shoots at the other. Shooty tyrant kills 2, SMs run, winged tyrant kills a few and the SMs run again, Again tyrant is out of CC!!! Again 4 rapid firing plasma shots at it!! It takes another 2 wounds and is left with 1, the ravener in CC kills the rest of the tac squad and only the HQ is left which does 1 wound to the ravener. At this point its just mop up time and I win again with a massacre. GAME 6: Could it be? no it couldnt......could it? Yep its eldar again hmmm.. Well its Ulthwe this time (actually wanted to play this list) Seer council (2 farseer, 16 warlocks? 7 witchblades all up, fortune*2) 2*5 guardian defenders. Mission was Cleanse Gamme (they where all gamma) My plan was to shoot the council down to a reasonable size before getting into CC and it seemed sound. I take first turn and move things around (in a spot, tyratn did a 180 just for style points) I move rippers and raveners up opposite flanks, trying to go after the opponents guardians. enemy moves council the the left, I run with the rippers and ravener but I know the rippers cannot outrun the council. I put the Tyrant and fex (shooty ones) just into 18" range, in fact it was so close the tyrant was the only one that could shoot (fex was at 18.3") and even then tyrant only had 1 in range.....12 shots later 1 dead council member. Enemy assualts the rippers and well.....they die! Next turn I try again to get just into 18" and again fail, this time only the fex is in range, 2 enemies in range....8 shots later 2 are dead. The council again fleets towards me (meanwhile on the right flank 1 of my ravs aproaches a guardian squad) This time I get both my shooters into shooting range and kill a few more council members. council fleets closer again (no cover to slow them down) Turn 4-5 I take another shooting turn at the council and 1-2 go down. This time the enemy catches me, they fleet 4" and just make it into btb with 1 model with 1 of my rippers....damn slow rippers! I assualt the rav into the guardian squad and I assualt everything else into the seer council, Winged tyrant, walking tyrant and fex (the council was stuck in CC with the last remaining ripper!....goood little rippers) At this point CC ensues untill the end, with me killing 1-2 models a turn but not making a dent in his witchblade models, he kills my winged tyrant in 3 assualt phases and gets lucky on the last and takes my walking tyrant down to 1-2 wounds (2 iirc.....no must have been 1) Anyway, his guardians have taken my quater, my 1 wound ravener (took a wound killing the 5 guardians) takes his quatre and his council and my fex contest 1 other........All I needed was to kill 2 council members on the last turn to make it non scoring...only managed 1 kill so the area is contested....... then I remember!!! the farseer took a wound on turn 1 casting fortune!!!! the unit is under half strength!!! MUAHHAHA I win with a minor victory sweet!!!! GAME 7 And wouldnt you know it!!! its good old Tom again with his 3 wraithlords, avatar and 8 guardians! AGAIN....on the same table AGAIN.....playing the same recon mission AGAIN!!! Oh well we think it will be mostely the same and it is, few differences, he deployes further away and me not wanting to split my 2 shooty MCs I take an extra turn to get into shooting range (turn 1 that is!) We then shoot it out for a few turns and then this time I do the assualting, he shot up 1 of my shooty MCs, the tyrant, I shoot up his starcannon wraithlord. after this I move in for the assualt (too soon), however a very bad mistake on my part allows some of his guardians to maneuvre into shooting range and los of my ravener (though now that I think about it there is no way ALL 10 could have seen that ravener through the tiny hole between his avatar and wraithlord) Anway 20 shuricans later the rav is dead! I then assualt, Winged tyrant, rav, fex against a WL, the WL goes down, They all consolidate into the next WL, I then somehow manage to fail!!! all my rending!!! I had 10 rending and 3 normal S6 hits with the tyrant, so basically 13 rending attacks!!! 0 wounds!!! He then counter charges the guardians into the rav, WL and avatar into my fex, after this I lose it all, in the end it is avatar and wl against my Winged tyrant, guardians against 3 rippers. I lose it all, I do managed to take the Avatar down to 3 wounds (so 50% VPs) and 1 guardian squad under half! So its a minor win for Tom (it was recon and he ended up 1-3" out of my deployment with his remaining 2 scoring units!) 13/7 victory for him! Damn weak rending!!!! damn mistake letting guardians shoot!!! omg they got to shoot!!!! how? Anyway that was the tourny! Tom totally dominated the tournament! Game points where as follows: 1st:Tom Eldar 133pts 2nd:Mika Eldar 100pts (2WL, avatar, 2 guardian defenders with platforms) 3rd/4th Ville Ulthwe (seercouncil) Sebastian (That is me btw) Funny thing though, I played tom 2 times, I played ville once, I played the 2 eldar armies that came 5th and 6th aswell.... Somehow though I never managed to come against the 2nd place eldar player! nor did Tom!!! Sounds fishy to me! very fishy! Then again this tournament was never big on fair player. (hence the games with 6-7 MCs on the table) And that is the game! was a great day, had some good games. 500pts with no restrictions was fun for a laugh....you should try it sometime (just don't do it more than once)

Good job, Sebastian.
Sounds like you need some practice on distance guessing, however, as it seems like that kept you out of first =P Our local club just announced a combat patrol tournament, so that might end up pretty fun, but I have no idea what list to bring... Wraithlords and avatars and TMCs are out though... So it might end up pretty interesting, sadly, no 6 MC games =*(

I'd take 3 raveners atleast.
Perhaps a biovore to take a table quatre, not sure really. Nids have some fun units.

As far as game 2, did you say your Raveners were dead? I thought 'fexes could only score if they still had two wounds left.

Game 2 I think the raveners might have been alive but bad fleet rolls kept them out of CC iirc.
Yes fexs only score when on 2+ wounds, did I write differently somewhere?
