Has anyone here ever used a soldering iron for cutting foam?* I was thinking about getting one but I wanted to see if anyone else here as done it before.* I technically will not be cutting with it but carving surface features with it.* HotWireFoamFactory sells something that you plug into the wall but I do not think it gets hot enough.
Thanks, JPBELLAVANCE

A sautering iron?
I'm not entirely sure what that is.. Do you mean soldering iron? If so, then.....no, I haven't. It would create a lot of bad fumes, so I wouldn't advise it |

The spell checker let my spelling error through. Sorry. I will actually be using the iron to engrave on the foam boards. I think it will work much better than the hotwirefoamfactory variety.
Thanks, JPBELLAVANCE

Cutting foam leaves a residue on the tool you use. So if you intend to use the soldering iron for actual electrical work... you're going to need to clean off the foam residue somehow. Other than that, it'll do the job fine.
