Default Terrain Workshop at Murchankite`s [lord commander Solar macharius]

Hey everyone, im not sure if this should go in the Project Log forum or here, but im gonna put it here and some moderator can prove me wrong later

I am making terrain for a Tournament in a couple of months, a lot of terrain At the moment i am creating stuff for a desert board and some stuff for a city board. This post will be updated as i go along.
If you have any suggestions of what i should make i would be happy to hear them, examples of stuff done before you want to show me? bring it on, i need inspiration

Here is what i have so far:

A ruined house for the cityboard.

Some Craters (some still wip.)

Two different designs for the desert "pillars" i like the left one the best, but i would be happy for some suggestions on how to make these look better.

A temple dedicated to some old god by some dead race long ago (wip).

A buried giant monolith (wip)

A desert outpost with water supply, i will be focusing alot on water containers like these on the desert pices. I think it fits well.

A water depot.

Looking really good. I'd be happy to play on terrain like that.

Your first building I love. The detail on the backside of that building is just awesome. Something nitpicky though with it. The top floor with the black and white checkered tiling needs weathering.

Those craters are nicely done also. Oh, for the pillars I also like the left. Has this odd martian type of feel to it. The right one would be better if you didn't leave so much flat vertical surface. Right now it looks like a rectangle that you cut corner chunks from, not something organic, if that makes sense.

Keep up the work, looking great. I'd love to see a few shots of the table setup with all this once you're done.

Gotta ask how you're doing the craters? What are you doing to build up the crater part itself, the rim of it? It has such a great organic/realistic look to it.

Thanks for the supporting words, being the local terrainmaker i need all teh praise i can get :P

The craters are basically little foam Triangles glued in a circle and then edged (and filled) with regular filler.

ill post a step by step thing next time i make one up.

I got some more Terrain made up, not much painting yet but a lot of building

here`s my freebee from Gamesday last week ill be adding to this with a new set of the Aegis defenceline later.

At gamesday i aslo got hold of the Shrine of the aquila set, this thing is huge!
Here is a step by step picture guide on how i did most on this terrain piece;

First the set was glued together obviously, then mounted on a raised hill of Styrofoam like this:

As you can see i also used one of the moonscape craters.

The next step was adding a floor, i got this material at a local hobbyshop.

Then i added filler to the edges, applied by a regular kitchen knife and a rough brush.

after that i decided to add some extra details.

a rat

and a bat :P

The last step before Priming was sanding the whole thing.
I brushed PVA glue over the areas i wanted covered and poured on sand.

Here it is ready for priming.

An Oasis in 3 parts.

A trainstop, i may make more tracks to go with this.

The finished aegis defenceline, i still have some of these WIP.

Shrine of the aquila painted up, this was a real challenge to finish its huge! but its a great set and a fine looking terrain piece.

a dead priest

a dead guardsman

I also painted these moonscape craters for a friend.

Thats all the finished stuff, here are a few WIP projects im working on at the moment:

More Aegis defence lines.
