Default New Modelling 'Tubs' and revamped supplies

GW are working on making their modelling supplies (flock, static grass, gravel, sand) more 'convenient' (cough raising price by AUS$2) by placing them in tubs.

http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefr...orignav=300810

Some stuff thats coming, is modelling snow, and a 'wet effect' thing, a thick paste or something that dries hard and glossy and looks like water.

Oh yeah, and PVA bottles are getting a revamp..

All this info in the latest White Dwarf Magazine (well, in australia anyway)

Any idea of the volume of the tubs? If they're the same, the price difference seems rather silly. I mean... any old bowl would do.

PVA is a term that's not used too much in the 'States. Is that the same as Elmers?

Yes, it's ordinary white glue.

Well, most people just put the stuff into tubs/bowls anyway, apparently GW is just making it more convenient.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention new flat drybrushes are on the way too.

If their glue drys truly clear, I actually might give it a go. Because everything I've tried here leaves a hazy appearance/ has cloudy look.

My mum works in a primary school and she can get 6 litre bottles of PVA really cheaply

So I never go short

I tried to comment before, but my ISP wouldn't let me (insert appropriate adjective here).

So I'll try again.

I've never used GW flock, as you can get twice as much for half as much at your local hobby shop. Chances are it'll have a better range too. However the lack of appropriate container has annoyed me for some time. Maybe it would be a good idea to buy one of these from GW, then when you run out of flock, continue buying it from the hobby shop, but recycle the container.

If that makes sense.

But why pay GWs price for the tub when you can purchase one cheap at any dollar store?

Or better yet, just clean out an old margarine tub and use that. With all that extra coin you save, you can go to your local hobby store and stock up on a couple of bags of trainboard flock or static grass.

Far more economical that way, if you ask me.

Cheers!
