Default imm meltiing!

so you found a cool looki peice of styrofoam, itll make the cool est fire base ever! so you grab som grey spray paint and giver a coat , holy krootox its melting!----- the reason your base just became goo is that styrofoam reacts to acetone in a nasty way however hope is not lost some acrylic primers can prevent the reaction, or just use acrylic paint, if youre not sure what to buy read the back of the cans ingredients if say acetone dont go there.

i heard about a person who made a cave, he melted the styrafoam, and it made great stalactites (the gaps between to globs of plastic glue)

Spray paint doesn't have acetone in it - if it did the paint itself would never adhere. It's the propellants (the stuff they use to pressurize the can so the paint sprays out in a useable fashion) that melt the foam - they act as a solvent. You can solve this problem by priming your foam with acrylic paint (interior house paint works pretty well) or even by painting on a layer of slightly thinned wood/white glue to seal the surface - if you use the glue you can dip it in fine sand to give it a bit of texture at the same time.

If you know how to seal it, as mentioned above, the melting can be a feature instead of a bug. Just leave certain parts unsealed, spray with black primer/paint, and you have instant craggy-looking rock. Just wait for it to dry and then prime it by hand.

For My Frineds Tyranid Board, I got the foam roof of his huge building, and sprayed a couple of huge holes in the top. The we put Tyranid "Drop Pods"(more like melted flessh to me) un der the holes and the resulted building was awsome. When you looked throuhg the main doors there were these shafts of light protruding from the roof. It was so awsome!!
