Default High quality board - low budget - Need suggestions

Hey guys, SG here. Me and a friend of mine, Greg, are starting a summer project. To build a gaming board, with a low amount of money, what we already have, and yet have a good number of games without getting repetitive.

So basically, we are looking for suggestions. I will list what we have in a moment. We want a good city style board, but has a little of everything. Specific, i know....

As an image, Stalingrad. Ruins, chock points and a river kind of thing in the middle, is what we are getting at. But over all any board will do, just as long as it is fun to play on. To avoid repetitive gaming we already know about the 'do not glue the terrain' so we can switch it up.

We have:
Cardboard
Styrofoam
A cardboard ruin-like thing i found, pictures soon! (Looks like the inside of a huge building)
Some random terrain from maccrage
Other random ruins
$90 CDN, and we need to get the cities of death rule book.
Tyranid infestations markers

We are going to ask around for models no one wants anymore/are damaged or broken beyond repair to use as casualties.

Any help or useful links appreciated!

Well, I have set up a trade for damaged minis on the trade board, with some success! I may be trading for a destroyed predator, which has been set up to be terrain for a city fight.

We had the idea to but lots of Popsicles, eat them, and then use the sticks as a boardwalk near water, and have part of it destroyed. One of my Styrofoam boards has a section that broke off or something, so it would fit in. Hard to explain... Keep 'em coming!

Have you tried scratch building some stuff, or even just looking at the GW site and getting some inspiration off there. That is where I get a lot of my inpiration from. Just a thought. ; )

Oh, if you want modular terrain ruins, I have the ultimate solution. Old clay blocks. I have some literally century-old toy clay blocks of various sizes that really look like ruins, and it takes about five minutes to set up a nice looking building. The clay blocks can also double as rubble--just set up a bunch of small pieces in a little pile. In fact, you can make the ruins look like they've been destroyed convincingly. Make an intact building and tip over a few supports and presto, it's a convincing ruin.

And it's incredibly cheap. About ten dollars worth of these things = a lot of ruins. But, if you can't find century-old clay blocks in a pawn shop or at a yard sale, you might be able to build them yourself. I haven't had to actually make any myself, but I suppose it could be done. After making the pieces, you'd have to chip them and maybe even soak them in water for a while to give them a really weathered look.

2 words, Foam Board, learn to cut Foam Board into ruin/building shapes and you can make a great city in no time, with just 3 large sheets you can make an immense ruined city, or a small, but TALL city, Foam Board is the city builder's BEST FRIEND period!

You can look on GW. They have several buildings you can make from foamboard. It's actually easy to cut. Just use either a very sharp knife/box cutter and a ruler and you can make endless straight, clean cuts.
