Default No man's land themed board

I am receiving $250 at the end of the week (merry f@#kin christmas). I am planning on making it my budget to make a gaming board. I'm a WW1 fan, and I figured it would be cool to make a no man's land themed table.

The plan is to put tenches on the edge of the deployment zone on both sides. Then fill the center with craters to provide cover.

Immediately I was worried about putting models in the trenches and losing squads completely to a pile of models fallen on top of each other. I am going to put a flat layer of epoxy resin inside (mud) to put the models on top of and establish the fact that it is difficult terrain.

The other problem I am having is that I am a Tau player and I don't want to make the board favorable to shooting armies becuase there is almost nothing blocking fire lanes. I am considering adding a bunker or two in the center (models couldn't go inside but they could shoot from the roof). Ohterwise I am stuck on what to do.

Make some crashed tank terrain pieces for the centre of the board.

Plus put some dead body piles and some 'effects of treanch warfare' such as shot to bit dead trees, smoking holes, barbed with, rusty old viechles... that sort of thing

are you trying to be fair by making it not so favorable to shooting armies, cos quite frankly, that is perfect for tau players.

How would i make it flankable? It seems like a good idea. And yes, a tank in the middle would look nice as well.

Fox holes would be good too and maybe some places for artillery. Well and no man's land was just an open area from what I remember form my history lessons in high school with a good bit of barb wire and such. a small mine field may be good too
