Default Plasti-card: THE most frustrating building material in the world

So I was planning on building a bunker and another couple of terrain pieces and I went out to get some plasticard. What I did not anticipate is that the material has got to be THE most frustrating to use ever.

It's hard--nay, rocksteady-- and a 2mm thick piece took me 15 minutes to cut off. The instructions said that after scoring with a sharp knife I should be able to just snap it off--apparently not. I had to resort to a dremel in the end to saw away a lot of styrene before I was able to snap off the piece.

With this bad experience (I was only getting a 1.75" square) building an entire bunker with this stuff suddenly becomes a daunting endeavor. Does anyone have experience working with the stuff that they'd like to share?

the cut should be about half of the board before you snap it off.

Score it several times with a utility knife and you should be able to just snap it.

I mean, the stuff can't be tougher than plexiglass, can it? Cause plexiglass is some hardcore stuff.

I now use a Dremel's cutting wheel since I haven't had the chance to pick up a utility knife yet. The edges are a little rough--not clean and straight like I'd want them--but it's alright, I suppose. I'll get a utility knife and see.

Its actually quiet easy to use and I'm having a hard time understanding how you cant just snap it off after a few hard scores with a knife.

I don't have a large knife. I have an Xacto blade that's about 3cm long and a cm wide. That's probably where all my problems come from.

Bingo. I would use a serrated knife if I had one.

Well, To be honest with you guys, I use scisors to cut my plasticard. It works and I can make have better control compared to a blade

Plasticard is hard, but not that hard. It is , after all similiar to a gundam plastic parts.

But making something big out of pure plasticard is trully tough. Faced it before, and I gave up on it. :P

The use of plasticard for me is to just put on some extra parts on existing models, not to make somethng out of scrap with it.

Bingo! I found a large knife and it scores nice and deep.

Serrated edges don't work so well, actually...a normal knife works wonders though. I've made a CoD Power Generator with the stuff so far--my next project is a CoD ammo dump. Will post after I get some pictures taken.
