Default Using a meat grinder for sprue rubble???

Hello all, much like many of you, I saw the article (wherever) about using an old meat grinder for chopping up sprues for rubble. Can some one tell me how the grinder should be configured? I put the blade in, then the "screen" (that normally would make the thin little sausages, and serves as a holder for the blade so that it stays in the grinder), then the outer ring. All of my soon to be rubble doesn't make it out of the grinder.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?!?!?!?!?!

Well, what exactly is wrong? Is the grinder jammed?

If so, unassemble everything, unjam, and begin again. If not, you may be looking at a bad quality grinder... Are the blades sharp?
Is it a manual?

Are you having mechanical problems, or mainly product quality problems. If something is wrong mechanically, I can sure as sure help you out, but as far as quality goes, it may just be the blades and the grinder.

Thats what i did. You could even take some of it and melt the plastic to simulate tortured metal. Watch out for fumes though...

i just took a bunch of sprues and cut them into long sticks and then started cutting them blindly and very short. sure it took time, but it saved me money. i know of a hobby shop that uses a grinder for terrain but i have never seen it in action.

A friend of mine just bought a grinder off ebay and made a heckuva lotta rubble from his CoD sprues... I used to cut up sprues manually, but I have to say... the Grinder-ized sprues look 100x better... and you have the added bonus of lots of "shavings" - which look more like bits of blasted rock than sand (they're longer & sharper) or other flock.

now with all of this talk about cutting up the sprues, does anyone use some sort of spray glue to keep 'em together or do you laboriously glue each piece together?
