use something other than cardboard for the bases....

thin plaques of wood... or plastic.. or something like that. cardboard.. .gets warped, all the time, in my experience, no way around that.

I use hardboard to base my terrain with. It's relatively easy to cut and shape and won't warp when you paint it. ;D

depends on what your using.

over all Masonite or Hardboard is best.
you need a jigsaw and sand paper to work with it best.

for hills, if you make them from pink or blue foam you dont really need to base them but they will live longer if you do.

some small projects tho for terrain, and i mean small, like individual trees. plasticard or figure bases work well.
something that is 4" square or less you can probly get by with corrugated plastic sign board or foam core, but any bigger than that your in trouble.

but back to masonite. it is cheap. and a jigsaw is worth the purchase if you dont allready have one.
and that piece of warped terrain can be saved if you use masonite, just glue it down and weigh it or clamp it accordingly.

whereever you have a high spot just fill it with some spackle, drywall mudd or some chunks of pink/blue foam to make a small rock pile.

I've heard that if you put PVA glue on both sides, it will not warp. It just warps equally in both directions.

best way is just dont use it.
if you are using it for something cheap, check with your local convenience stores for sign board, that stuff like pepsi and the bottled water companies have thier stuff pronted on. its plastic and a llittel thick, about the same as masonite, but also its free and can easily cut it with a hobby knife.

one sheet is like 2' x 4'

and a 4x8 sheet of masonite is under 10.00 but the plastic sign board can be cut without power tools.
