Default Making Hills

Hi all, this weekend my sister bought a TV cabinet and it contained a billion different bit of polystyrene so I thought I would have some fun with my hot wire cutter. In the end I ended up with some Hill/cliff looking things that i am starting to quite like.

anyway, you can take a look at:

as you can see, I have taken some pics before undercoating and some after, I will post some pics up when I get them painted

Gotta get myself a new something in polystyrene

Nice pics, but I miss a model in them to get a sense of scale... hint, hint...

I like them. The only thing i think you need is sand or flock on the flat areas.

I'm goning to have to get me a Hot Wire Cutter.

If you paint it nicely and flock and sand the flat areas it will be great

Yeah, I cant wait to paint them and put the finishing touches like putting flock and sand on, but I dont have the right paint at the moment so I am stuck where I am till next weekend when I can go to my hobby store.

Oh well, more time for painting mini's I guess

Yup, just your run of the mill packing foam. The only hard thing about making them is making sure that you plan the size of each layer well so it ends up fitting together well

Quick question, how do you make those cuts in the sides of the hills? I want to make some spires with those cuts in them, but i don't know how to do it.

Thanks,

Hobby knife/foam cutter held at an angle to the material.
It's not difficult, but take some planning to look 'natural', so stop and check your progress every now and then.
