Default Basic Scenery

Alright so I started making some scenery piece to get rid of my juice bottle and egg carton terrain. I have a lot of packing Styrofoam from after Christmas and I have made a piece of destroyed wall. I also have the Maccrage scenery, I made 2 small hills and I got a large jungle green piece of cloth.

I was wondering what I should do next? I got some plastic plants at the dollar store and I was thinking on gluing some onto washers to make some small terrain pieces but I'm not sure if I should glue them onto ā base after I make them or simply setup ā kind of magnet board where I could move them around on

I was also wondering what I should do with all these odd shaped foam pieces I have. I mean should I build more hills or more buildings?? I want to eventually buy some tubing to build some to buildings but I also want some ruins and such.

What do you guys think?

Buy some insulation foam (6' to 4' or whatever) and gw's or someone else's grass matt and you have a board already. Then you could buy some pipecleaner, gypsum
and clump foliage to make bigger trees. Twist a bunch of pipecleaner to make the shape, cover it with gypsum, paint it and insert clump foliage like this or whatever (this ain't a good picture!)

Then make swamps using gloss varnish, sand and cardboard, paint also.
Make some ruins out of plasticard, buy more plants and you are pretty ready!!
(You are about making a jungle terrain if I understood right?? :P)

Why not make a sort of outpost for your army, a very small base. I'm making a Tau science outpost. A landing platform of of tin lids and foam. A lab/building out of a used malteasers tub and a tau turret out of a jelly bean tub and spare burst cannons. Nowhere near completed yet, however they are starting to take on shape.

Yeah well I'm not up to making boards yet. I currently use a 6'x 4' sheet of wood and I put my green cloth on it.

As for the Tau buildings I was waiting to get a little cash together (after Christmas debt ) to go to the dollar store or Hardware store to get some cool looking pipes and such.

Right now I'm trying to consentrate on as much standard and multi-use terrain. I want to be able to just have them on different board types. Like I know I have to make some trees out of what I already have but how should I make the scenery piece. Should I place a few tree and shrub pieces on a piece of board, or should I place them on metal disks and then make up a kind of magnetic board where I can move them around?

After that other then trees what else would be standard scenery pieces? Hills, rivers, lakes, ruins, Rocks???

If you need inspiration or terrain to build around I suggest you visit www.amera.co.uk.
They're great for cheap and cheerful terrain. It's not very sturdy, but with a bit of textured paint they can look pretty convincing.

Areas of difficult terrain, because it alter a game more than a wall, but isn't quite as restrictive as a building. Perhaps a forest, rocky piece of ground, crater or tar/toxic waste pit?
Beyond that I would say either a trench system or small outposts, things that look like they belong on a battlefield and are good for using as objectives etc.
I think a lot of it is down to personal taste though.

For your forests I would sugest a piece of board with a couple of trees mounted on it, unless you can find some trees that are easy to use (I.e that aren't prone to falling over.)

If you wanted to go all out a chasm with a bridge running over it can look quite impressive, even if it's small.
Sorry if I'm no help!
