Default A question

What holds foam core together? I mean the thin stuff, about 1'' thick. I am making this complex apartment building and can't go any further until this question is answered. Oh and one other thing: please don't make the glue/material too expensive. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean what makes the card adhere to the foam, or glue that will hold foamcore pieces together well?

In my experience PVA works well, and is cheap. For added strength you might like to cut up some metal coat hangers and use the long pieces of wire as reinforcing.

Bracing in the corners helps too, or, making a common 'column' of foamcore for both walls to glue too when making a corner

Pictures when you're done too hey? INterested in your project for sure

In a couple of foamcore buildings that I put together I used inexpensive finishing nails and PVA to hold things together

Rubber cement works well too, but it takes forever to dry. PVA (white glue) works best I think.

I always use PVA and toothpicks to start with, if the structure is going to be stone or concrete looking i'll give the whole thing a few thick coats of textured paint( sand, spackle,PVA,what ever colored paint you want to use, and a little water)

Okay, I think I'll use PVA, with tooth picks as Stealth Predator said. Oh and PVA is Elmer's glue, right?
