Simply glue sand to is, paint it "ice blue" and drybrush it with "skull white". Or instaid of sand you can use a cushion you put through a blender. It's fuffy stuff. ;D

Use white paint, PVA, and sugar with large crystals. Mix it together, and bung it on. Classic.

A neat way of doing a cheap, decent-looking snow table is to buy a can of space wolf grey (or really any light blue or blue-grey) and white spray paint. Spray the tabletop SW grey, and then lightly spray the white over it, going heavy in some areas and light on others to make patches of lighter and darker snow. That's how he snow table in the 3rd ed BBB (and some of the 2nd ed books) was done. It quick, it's easy, it's cheap, and it looks pretty good.

You could also mix baking soda with white glue and a little white paint into a paste, cover the board with it, and then sprinkle more baking soda on top. The problem with this is that it yellows quickly and cracks easily, especially with heavy use. If you put a little more money into it you could use Woodland Scenics snow flocking, which looks much better than baking soda and doesn't yellow quite as fast. I've heard that if you use this technique and add just the barest amount of light blue to the paint/glue/snow flock it helps keep it from yellowing, but have not tried it.

Another way is to make a completely normal table, sand and flock as normal, then sprinkle salt over it when it's done. Not permanent but it looks very nice. That's what they did for the pictures of the ultramarines in the snow in the new SM codex, and what a lot of historical gamers do. Just don't use sugar, sugar sticks to the models.

This has given me an idea (its a rare thing) base coat the table white with a blue tint, then spray it with a clear glue (not the kind that stays sticky) cover the thing with salt (before the glue dries) then give it a light coating of high gloss varnish. Should work a treat. watch this space.

Simply use flour. It works well, and is amazingly like snow.

I use white marble powder for snow. It's usually used to do texturized paint, but you can buy it alone in your DIY store (and it's fairly cheap). To use, just flock it over a white surface.
