Fire Warriors are better than them with regard to range, weapons, armour, mobility etc.
Kroot are better in strength, close combat, range, and weapons.
gue'vesa lose out each time.

gue'vesa have no place in any army list i take, as i have better units to use. and that is the general consensus.

They are the grey warriors, ashen like the wolf, whose greatest joy is to hear the clamour of steel amidst the din of war. None can step before them, they are the first, proud in their strength and jealous of their renown. Through the storms of the warp they come, upon the very tides of terror, but of such dangers they are uncaring. They are the Space Wolves, the Undefeated, the bane of the Emperor's foes."

They have their uses, so don't count them out as an option. I've never used them, but they

are cheaper than firewarriors and make an excellent suicide unit. Usually give them EMP grenades

and run them at a tank.

6 Gue'vesa, Gue'vesa'ui, markerlight: 56 points
It's the cheapest possible point investment in order to get a markerlight on the table. If they fit your fluff and you want some extra fire support take them. I love mine, they've won their points back over and over, and if the enemy is shooting at them, they are not shooting at my other troops worth 2-4 times as much.

I hadn't thought about the marker light, but that would be a great way to get one on the

table. They're kind of odd though. They're really just guardsmen in carapace armor, maybe with

the new book the idea of gue'vesa will be expanded to include new troops or vehicles.

I use them as an annoyance unit...

They are a cheap unit that can be used to: 1) cheap source of a markerlight, 2) Cheap table quarter holding unit, 3) rear area security, 4) Mock pro-Imperial players into unnecessary focus on the "traitors".

For a while i used to buy a cheap combat ring of Gue'vesa to surround my Broadsides - too many times callidus assassins, Wolf Scouts, White Scars etc would pick them off from the back of the board... At least with a ring surrounding them - they could not be tied up on a "show up next to you and charge"

unfortunatly i made the mistake of hiring constuction workers who are high school dropouts with 5 o clock shadows and generaly only answer to "hey fatty" or "stop urinating on my property or im calling the police!". But they stand around and spit alot so i figure they must be halfway decent construction workers...

If they have emp grenades, they are each as powerful as a lascannon against a land raider if they can get close, and they are dirt cheap. Same with the markerlight.

I've toyed with the idea of taking a small units of them with my Broadsides. For very few points, your Broadsides get a dedicated Meatshield + Markerlight.

Gue'vesa are a suicide unit, mostly a screen in which you can hold off enemies from reaching your Fire Warriors so they aren't forced into close combat, so they can be useful if you use 'em right.
