lol. Actually I posted that link way back on that insanly long thread about what people would like to see in the Tau. There was a long discussion about rail guns. And actually, that lab is at my college. I go to Michigan Tech as a Mechanical Engineering major ;D. There was a deminstration of that railgun there, but sadly I wasn't around to see it.

Indeed there was. I even posted up a shortened version of the railgun firing:

So the Tau get their guns from college students with too much free time and too little common sense? Oh goody... :

"too much free time and too little common sense"

Now I would agree at times with the free time, but I wouldn't agree with the common sense. We at Mich Tech are what you might say...nerds. The fact is, we're ALL nerds there so it makes little difference. The development of the Rail tech as well as Guass Gun tech at Tech is just side show really. We're working with the DoD on a vehile called MULE. Basically its a fuel cell powered troop transport. We also do lots of things with bettering existing technology. lol Now I sound like a school rep.....sorry.

But basically in short, Railtech isn't just some high in the sky tech left for college students with "too much free time and too little common sense". It's real working power, highly invested in by the US military as the next step in over the horizon artiliary.

Dont forget the fact that theoreitcally with enough force and power, it could punch straight through a couple of Abrams sitting side by side.

It seems sarcasm is truly wasted on you lot... I guess the Ethereals never sat you down and explained what it meant. :
