Default Markerlights?

On the PF models, the wires from his helmet go into the bottom of the carbine, so I assumed that the bottom part was the markerlight. Then, the rules say the Carbine has an underslung grenade launcher, so I assume that the piece on the bottom is the launcher, and the little scope on the top is the marker.* Is that right?

...if not, Gundrones all have markerlights. BTW, can Drones launch grenades since they have a launcher on their guns?

The markerlight is always going to be a rather long boxy piece on a gun. On carbines, yes it is on top. But on guns like the Burst Cannon that a stealth leader uses, those are on the bottom. All carbines have "underslung grenade launchers" but to the best of our knowledge the only thing they do is fire a non-existant Photon-ish grenade. You cant change them or have them launch EMP's. All gun drones have this too, but no marklights. The only purpose for the launcher is to account for the Pinning test that Carbines can give.

Do you have the Codex? If you do, you'll notice that Stealth battlesuits don't have carbines. They have Burst Cannons. If you meant Pathfinders, then you would be correct in understanding that the bit under the barrel is the photon grenade launcher. Firewarriors and Gun Drones also have the ability to use a Pulse Carbine. The reason Pulse Carbines have Pinning is because they fire those grenades. Only the Pathfinder Pulse Carbine has a markerlight built-in, mounted on top of the carbine, as you have guessed correctly. Some people convert their Pulse weaponry to include a marker-light by adding that strip (made by cutting the end off of a Pulse Rifle) to the top of the weapon.

To sum up the answers to your questions: Right. Yes.

Nope, he is talking about the stealth shas'ui markerlight, not grenade launchers or carbines.

But yes, to echo everyone else. The markerlight is on top, despite the placement of the markerlight wires. The (photon) grenade launcher is on the bottom of carbines.

Just to add a bit.. the underslung grenade launcher just means the carbine is an assualt weapon, not rapid fire like the rifle - AND it adds pinning.

And yes McCoy, since gun drones have carbines, they do pin ppl. Their carbines are the same as a fw or pf.
