I've never used him, but his ability of letting kroot reroll missed attacks looks pretty sweet.

Kroot are like Sheep or Fish. They don't add an 's' when plural.

Baaack on topic...Anghor Prok is excellent when used with one (or preferably more) Kroot Carnivore Squads. Rerolling to hit 40-60 attacks is just incredible. Used as an independant character he is very survivable, especially if you put him between two squads. Leading a squad of Kroot he is also invaluable for his leadership of 10. Alternatively, you can attach him to a squad of Tau to get a little extra close combat or leadership oomph. The biggest problem with Anghor Prok is that he takes up an HQ slot. The extra CC and leadership benefit never seemed as impressive as an Ethereal, Aun'Shi, or second commander, especially with Prok's low toughness, poor armor save, lack of shooting ability and mediocre initiative.

Personally, I'd only take him if you run 2+ squads of kroot/hounds/oxen or enjoy his fluff. Now, Prok in a Kroot Merc list would probably be absolutely devastating: proper deployment could allow every single unit on the field to reroll attacks.

*shudder*

What you should do is place him in the middle of two squads as RCanine said but when he + his squad gets into combat DO NOT put him into base to base contact. This may prevent him from getting his attacks but it also prevents him from getting whacked. His abilities also are pretty decent for his points.

True but that would just be begging to get hit by Ord. :P

I'm not sure... imagine each unit of 20-40 models shaped somewhat like a teardrop, each with a "tail" that ends within 6" of Prok. You'd have to stretch 2" coherency to the max, but even if you did get hit by ordinance, you don't have to take models from underneath the template, so they'd still be in check. So long as 1 model is 6" range, the entire unit gets the to-hit re-roll. With such large units, it wouldn't be so hard.

You could also just keep them spread out and just get one model within 6" in the assault phase to get the bonus.
