Default Vespids again

I know Vespids are jump infantry with 12'' movement, but I'd as long as their rifle isn't pistol class for close combat (or they are close combat unit per se), "Fleet" is completely pointless when it comes to Vespids.

Am I missing something here? Because for getting close- purposes I'm using a well-blinged Stealth squad.

Well you may have a point there point for point shot for shot their pretty much the same i'd say even against space marines and are a lot easier to use and their range is also the same (with consideration to movement)

However the stealth's take an elite slot which would be a problem for most Tau players and defensively i think the Vespid have the edge having more wounds and with the "skilled flyers" ability they can take cover a lot easier they also have better leadership so their less likely to break up.

HOWEVER stealth's have infiltrate and outflank it's definitely a close call depending on what your trying to do.

I do like my stealth suits however as I mostly face Space marines the AP of the Vespis is quite sexy. I'll put this down as personal preference and how you play your army.

i like vespids, those big, buggish, ugly creatures look quite cool and would become more popular if they had a longer range! at least 18'' would do it, and prehaps lower points cost?

Yeah compared to an eldar fire dragon with a S8 AP1 melta gun and 4+ save BS 4 at 16 points they kinda suck especially considering their both 4th edition codex could definitely use a bump in range or AP.

Yeah i loved fielding my vespid but it was just to easy to find better ways to spend the point more effectively on the field.

i love vespids, i have 2 squads of them and pathfinders in most games you gotta love them, although they could do with a revamp/boost.

I now face to many grey knights and mass terminator armies in my area were it to drop back to more regular marines on the field they would probably make a resurgance in my forces.
