Default human aux. vs fire warrior... against marines

ok now i am going to go with 120 point teams here against marines.*

-non rapid fire range
* * -20 human aux.=20 shots=10 hit=3.3 wound.
* * -12 firewarriors=12 shots=6 hit=3 wound.
but keep in mind the firewarriors can shoot 6 inches farther for non rapid fire range.* but also the human aux have more men to take shots from the enemy. but also thier armor save is less then firewarriors. but im not incorporating that right now.

-12 inch rapid fire range
* *-20 human aux.= 40 shots=20 hit=6.6 wound.
* *-12 firewarriors=24 shots=12 hit=4 wound.
so once within 12 inches. the human aux do better against space marines.

now keep in mind this is against space marines that i used the stats against and against other armys the human aux could do much worse as their guns have no armor piercing.* i am not favorin either troop selection more then the other as they both have different strengths and weaknesses. if i did anything wrong please let me know so i can fix my mistakes.*

Interesting points you make,The human aux I'd say are better as a support to the fire warriors but best when you can sit them in cover and are targeting things with no armor save or a good enough armor save to ignore the armor penetration of your nifty pulse rifles.

You calculations for the Fire Warriors are wrong. It would actually be:

12 Fire Warriors = 12/24 shots = 6/12 hits = 4/8 wounds.

Thus the Fire Warriors still have more firepower then the Gue'vesa'la for their points value.

ahhh... thank you for pointing this out. guess i need to look over my calculations again.

-non rapid fire range
-20 human aux.=20 shots=10 hit=3.3 wound.
-12 firewarriors=12 shots=6 hit=4 wound

-12 inch rapid fire range
-20 human aux.= 40 shots=20 hit=6.6 wound.
-12 firewarriors=24 shots=12 hit=8 wound.

well firewarriors are overall a much better unit then.

That's okay, it's an easy mistake to make.

I would say that generally speaking Fire Warriors are a better choice, but Gue'ves'la are still handy for holding the line and fighting against moderate assault troops. Still no substitute for either Fire Warriors or Kroot, but a good in between unit.

May also want to do your math for 12 Human Aux as that is all that you can have.

He ment you could get 20 Gue'ves'la for the same cost as 12 Fire Warriors (i.e two squads of 10).

But if you think about it in different terms, say, for example, a six-man team:

6 Fire Warriors: 60 points =3 hits, 2 wounds
9 Gue'vesa, 2 pulse rifles: 60 points = 1 hit, 0.67 wounds from the rifles, 3.5 hits, 1.17 wounds from the lasguns = 1.84 wounds

At lower point values, Gue'vesa begin to make up for their cruddy weapon strengths. Plus a gue'vesa'la with EMP grenades still costs less than a Fire Warrior; it's all in how you use them.
