Cool Anti-imperial army

I live in a state that, well, doesn't have may warhammer 40k players, in fact, I only know me and my friend that play it. He has a imperial army that consist of: Kasrkins troopers, ratlings, shock troopers, sentinels, and Leman-Russ. what should I get and do to take on this army. also, he is thinking about giting a shadowsword, how do I take on this? I think some crisis battlesutes will do well ageist the shadowsword because of there jumppacks.

Against guard i usually get a pathfinders devilfish which allows me to reroll deepstrikes then get a pile of fusion blaster equipped suits and drop right on top of them within 6 and preferably behind and melt those tanks.

90% of guard players will take a lot of tanks for the sentinels broadsides and missile pods are great.

if he takes lot of ratlings i.e enough to make it worth your effort perhaps a daring flamer equipped crisis suit can bring home some burnt rats for the kroot ^_^ oh forgot to say that his darin because he also will be deepstriking on top of the ratlings

My friend plays guard and ive found a few guidelines that work for me.
1) deep-striking meltas works well, a little better than Railguns (s10 vs av14) but keep in mind that Railguns will get more shots while you wait for reserve rolls, and deep-striking isn't 100% safe
2) Smaller units (suits) are harder to hit with template weapons (battlecannons)
3) Disruption Pods will save you
4) Jump-shoot-jump will destroy your enemy
5) Pathfinders ensure safer deep-striking and can use their Marker Lights to lower/remove cover saves

I tend to infiltrate Kroot also (in jungle, 3+ area cover) and charge them when the Crisis Suits arrive to become a distraction they can't ignore. Marker Light squads and shoot Railgun sub-munition shots at infantry (instant death on heavy weapon teams and hq fellas, no cover save from markr lights). Use Marker Beacon as said in above post. Try to kill high Leadership individuals with Crisis Suits also, so the submunition Hammerhead shots result in the survivors of the squad to (hopefully) fail a leadership test and fall back off of the map.

Your right, I agree that multi-meltas will work better then railguns.
