Default Stealth HQ?

Is it at all possible for a Shas'O to dawn a stealth suit? I have found that the stealth units are next to impossible to kill if there not within 6", and wouldnt you think that at least one would want to, so is it possible to have stealth HQ? that would make my army really cool. If you notice that the Crisis and the Stealth cost the same per unit(minus the crisis's hardpoints being filled), so if you have the commander cost what he costs without paying for more attachments, would that work? Cause then, i could have a ML on a unit that could hit on a 2+, that would be good.

Nope. Shas'el and Shas'o have to wear Crisis Suits - it's not an option.

Look at the rules entry - blah blah blah always wear a Crisis suit blah blah...

You can make house rules all you want, but it's not official.

What would be the point? Commanders already have IC protection.

a Shas'o or Shas'el with the stealth capacity would be awesome but unholy powerful. It's hard enough to kill stealths, and its hard to kill the better Shas's...so combinding them would be just too much. Now maybe if you could take some kind of tooled up stealth (still have the burst, but better BS and such but only 2 wounds) as an HQ, that would be nice. But highly unlikely.

Stealth suited commanders would not be fluffy. A commander directs and orders his units around while a stealth suit team leader is pretty much a lonewolf with his boys. He isn't suited to command the entire army.

well think about it, the crisis gives all its wearers bonuses, the stealth does the same. *When you look at the commanders they all have those bonuses already included, why not subtract the difference and treat them as stealth, *

Well, for one thing, stealth teams aren't directly part of the command structure, operating independantly of the battleplan. Not the sort of position a commander would take.

I would like to see this at some point in an official release. Stealth HQ would not be fluffy for a normal army, but a variant list using pathfinders as troop choices and stealth as HQ and Elites would be fun. What happens to Stealthsuit Shas'vre when they gain experience? Do they have to learn how to pilot a Crisis? Unmounted and Stealthsuit Shas'Els and Shas'Os would be a nice (if difficult to balance) option for the Tau.
