okay, this thread is for those of us who want optimal weapons configurations but remain befuddled by rules or miss the statiscics entirely. let me start with a question that is widely debated all over the internet. smart missile systems, twin linked, not twin linked, 2 shots from each, or 4 shots total (in the case of vehicles). i really wanna know bwfore i run into a situation where one of my hammerhead's missile turrets is in range and the other is not ( i know you can turn vehicles prior to shooting, but sometimes that just can't be done). let's do this! for the greater good!

Well SMS are not twin linked debate over on that.
as for firing i always imagined it to be 2 missiles form each pod but having said that there is no way i'm letting someone say one of my pods is out of range i only get to fire two missiles it's all the one weapon system if one is range it's in range and if you want to get technical theirs no reason you can't say by looking at them that one pod can't fire four missiles in such a situation so unless a ref or someone comes over my official stance on that is kiss my a$$. |

Motion Seconded! It’s a single weapon "system" one pod in range is enough. The whole point of the system is that the little drone missiles are programmed to fly around stuff, through windows, etc. I’m pretty sure that if one pod is out of range, there is enough processing power in the pods to realize that and compensate.

Since all infantry models measure from the base and not the weapon then it doesn't matter from which hand they shoot from for Broadsides. As for the ships each has a drone and therefor it would make more sense that only one pod fires at a time.

You get the CIB with the commander battlesuit for the most part it works like any other weapon but when your rolling to wound if you roll any 6's the target won't get an armour save since that shot will be counted as AP1 unless of course they have an invulnerable save
For example i shoot at a group of three terminators and i score three hits i then roll to wound rolling 3 5 and 6 the first terminator laughs at my feeble attempt the second most likely makes his armour save while the third gets turned to a pile of slag since my now ap1 shot bypasses his armour and has a high enough roll to kill him. i'm pretty sure thats how it works |

As with every weapon in the tau arsenal it depends what you plan on killing if your suit is geared to kill infantry/horde from lowly tyranid to mighty space marine then yes it is better than the pod or fusion but on the other hand if your trying to kill bigger game like transports tanks terminators take the fusion blaster if your kinda in between or have a spare wep slot take the pod personally i think the missile pod is single best most versatile weapon available to the suits and i equip them on pretty much all my suits.
