So I just recently acquired the Tau Codex, and started to put my army together, but I came across something I didn't understand.

First, Commander Farsight. I don't a specific part about his "Break Away Faction" special rule. When the codex says that Crisis Battle Suits counts as 1+ units like Fire Warriors, what does that mean? Also, when it says the units count as 0-1, does that mean the number of models allowed in the unit is only 1 or does that mean it can count for 0 or 1 unit of the force organization chart?

Next, it is about the point value of Commander Shadowsun. Is the point value all inclusive of her drones and wargear, or are those extra points?

1+ is a mandatory unit
0-1 means you can only have 1 such unit in the whole army FOC.

So in other word in a Farsight enclave you need:
- Farsight (your mandatory HQ),
- 1 team of XV-8 and,
- 2 troops (one of which must be fire warriors).
and unit such as pathfinder, hammmerhead and broadside are limited to 1 unit maximum.

Second: All special character's cost includes the wargear.

The price of all their wargear is included in Special Character costs.

O'Shovah's "Break away faction" rule means that one unit of XV8 battlesuit(s) (of any size, could just be a Monat) is mandatory for the army. Normally, Tau have to bring at least one minimized squad of Fire Warriors (if you didn't know) which is why it references that they are also 1+.

Unfortunately, O'Shovah and O'Shaserra are both subpar. O'Shovah is probably the better of the two, except for the fact that he limits the FoC.
