Default can you have two commanders?

can you have two commanders and if so do they have to be of different rank , ie 1 shas'o and 1 shas'el

the reason i ask is , ive been playing small 1000 point games angainst nids and using a shas'o with plasma rifle, fusion gun and burst cannon with HW multi tracker, hes realy been working well in fact he's the only thing that seems to be pulling its weight.

im adding another with a fusion gun, missile pod and flamer and HW multi tracker ( plus ive got some great models to represent them, its the FW ones with the sensor spines removed)

Although perfectly legal, consider in smaller games that these commanders are meant to be the leaders of whole cadre's, and therefore to find two in one army - especially at 1000pts, would be very surprising.

Other battlesuits (stealth and crisis) when equipped properly and used correctly can easily pull their weight against Tyranids also, so don't feel that you have to go for two commanders instantly.

Using two hqs is better in a 2000 or more army. Mainly because your going to have a lot on the field and u may need another team of suits, but still only if i really need to then i would use 2 battlesuit hqs. My Friend has a all tank army and i need all the tank busting battlesuits that i can. But when i'm not facing my friend's tank army i just use a Shas'O and Aun Shi. In a 1000 point game, a Shas'O and his bodyguard alone is going to be a tough hq. Ur going to spend points on other stuff like a railhead (nids love them especially when u use subminitions). Again Shas'O is revered leader and commands a lot of respect. If i need another battlesuit Hq i use a Shas'El just so my Shas'O is unique and to stress the fact that he is revered and a veteren of many battles. I mean if u are a great leader, would u want another one of your rank to tell "your" men what to do?? I don't. Needing the help of another to lead shows lack of leadership and shows everyone that u can't take the responsibility. U don't have to make ur army personal, but a Shas'O is a very important member of the Greater Good and point wise, its best to have one especially in a 1000 pt game.

not to say that it is a bad idea but if you read the fluff you are given the choice of retirement or Shas'o these guys are the best and abusing that to beat 1 player is kind of cheap.
find a new way to use your warriors good tactics will win any game

Fluffwise, you should only ever have one Shas'O, and save him for 1,500 and up.

oh i know! im all about not being a power gamer, I was just curious if it could be done. fluff wise i think your right a shas'el is the way to go for 1000 point games mostly i dont even take a commander just an ethereal because i can buy a whole other unit of infanrty for the cost of a shas'o
