Default Apostrophe in Tau

Alright, I feel dumb asking this, but I'm trying to write in the Tau font for some banners I'm trying to make--no apostrophe. It seems most Tau words have apostrophes (shas'o, tau'va, etc...) am I missing something, or do they just ignore the apostrophe in Tau characters?

Hmm... It could be explained away as a translation difference (the apostrophe shows us how to pronounce Tau words in english) but it is more likely just an oversight.

Personally I hate overuse of apostrophes in fantasy languages. Naming everything like Kal'kr'tar'm'ok is just like saying "I lack creativity! I will impart to you the feeling of foreignness not through the names themselves but by adding punctuation marks where they don't really belong!"

The Tau font is missing quite a few characters; it doesn't have one for 8, 9, or Q in my experience. I still think it's cool that they provided the font like that (I love printing up my list normally and in Tau and showing only the Tau one to my opponent: I never fail to get the funniest reaction), but I wish they would have fully completed all the symbology.

Definite point about the apostrophies everywhere; all the newer Star Trek games have them galore, it irks me like none other.

Base 7 number system? Exactly how many fingers do they have...

I think the apostrophes are just pronunciation tools. It is kind of like how they change the names of ancient figures to more accurately represent how their name is pronounced... I have seen genghis khan spelled gengis, genghis, chinghis, and some other ways I can't remember. They are just trying to change how you space out the word.

Maybe it's for their caste ranking system. with the apostrophe between first the caste and second the rank it's easier to see both faster.

Tau have 8 fingers and it's an 8-number-system inluded the null.

The Tau have 8 fingers? Looking at the models I was always under the impression of only 4 fingers.huh weird.

Personally for the names and ranks, I like the apostrphes, they help for fast recongizion of different ranks.

Yeah, they have actually 4 fingers, but I remember them having two hand. What gives them a total of 8 fingers.
Am I right?

Indeed. I think the apostrophe's are just to separate words into syllables, as usually they're split in weird places.

Their numeric system is based on 8 and not 10 like our (similar to computer who operates around number 2 or 16). So tou numbering would be: 01;02;03;04;05;06;07;10;11;12;13;14;15;16;17;20,.. .

Or at least it seems logical due to the alphabet and numbers, number of fingers and organization of their units.

Actually, a base 8 number system would go up to 8.
So it'll be more like: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,20...
