Tau Allies

Can the Tau take any allies? I'm sick of people sticking Grey Knights in every other army, I want something too!

Not as far as I know, officially, unless you want to be Daemon-led and have a bunch of daemons. However, you and your friends/gaming group could probably work something else out to your satisfaction.

Pussykins i dont uderstand that post at all? tau can take kroot or human aux, and those are the only ones listed so far. The codex states that the purist firecaste approach to battle was changed to include many mercenary unit's as the tau are fighting ever increasing number's of enemy combatant's. So technically i believe that as long as the fluff and rules make sense you could use just about any except for nids and orks, and prob SM's. I recently saw the starship trooper's miniature game and am still considering buying it and using the models as tau human auxillary.

I saw the starship troopers stuff, it looks pretty sweet. The bugs are pretty decent models. i'm looking forward to the different suits they are coming out with.

yup i opned up the box and checked out the minis, and the bugs do look pretty damn good the marines look kinda hard to paint but totally unlike any in 40K. Theyd make a great human auxillary unit for a tau army, and the bugs maybe a new kind of nid for a hoard?

I was thinking of maybe using the marines and their different battlesuits to make a tau human auxilliary army. Using the rules for tau, but it would look really cool and different!

Or you could use them as a hostile indigenous species.

Kroot and Gue'vesa aren't technically "allies" in the game sense because they are in the codex or chapter approved additions to the codex. Tau should have some allies options though, as they use mercenaries so frequently, and are evangelizing the greater good as well. Theoretically you could model human auxiliaries into any other type of xenos auxiliaries also, giving them the same stat line as humans.

Army Builder can putHarlequins as an official ally.

But my friends and I interweave our armies together (he's SM and mine's TAU, IG, SoB and Kroot Mercs) with whatever fluff we can manage.
