Hi,

you can take a drone controller, and then have to take 2 drones (Gun, Marker or Shield - any combo), but where can you get the drones from?
You get 2 gun drones with crisis suit & fire warrior team, but what about Shield and Marker drones?
You get a marker drone with Stealth suit teams, but i don't really want to buy a bunch of stealth suit teams just for the marker drones.

The only place I'm aware of that you can obtain shield drones from is the Pathfinder Shas'ui Blister. I seem to remember they did a conversion kit, though...

I think the best way to get shield drones is simply to convert them. If you want to convert marker drones from gun drones, find an arial (Crisis suit for preference) and a target lock and stick'em in place of the guns. For shield drones, either simply leave the guns off and find another arial, or do what I did; leave off the guns, and put a crisis suit shield generator in the spare arial slot.

You can use any conversion that may cross your mind. So long as it looks like it should be what you say it is, it'll be fine.

Currently the only way to get a Marker Drone is the XV-25 Stealth Team. Since I wanted to have two full teams I have 4 Marker Drones from the sprues, I managed to buy one extra from a friend and then got another Stealth team sprue which I intend to sell witout the extra bitz. Ask your tau friends, maybe someone has some spare Marker Drones and does not use them?

I just use Gun Drones without the guns as Shield Drones, you dont need anything fancy really.

I take a shield emitter from a crisis suit, drill a hole through it, and glue it to the bottom of the model like this.

Most people use slightly-converted gun drone models for all of their drones except the sniper teams. At every place I've ever played, a shield drone can be just a gun drone with the guns pulled off. If you're want to make it look better at the expense of being able to use it as a gun drone, you can shave off the posts that the guns attach to, drill a hole through the center of a crisis suit shield generator (for the stand), and glue it (curved-side down) to the bottom of the gun drone model. I think the true shield drone has two antennae, so you can cannibalize another gun drone model or make another antenna out of spare bits. Marker drones are similar. Attach a crisis or stealth suit target lock piece to one side and something resembling a markerlight to the other. I haven't tried this since I rarely use marker drones, but you could probably get away with cutting down the handles of the drone carbine and calling it a markerlight.
