Default Mounted FWs

I'm curious as to just how mobile mouted FWs are. If you start the game (or a turn) mounted, then you can move 12" (and fire with a MT), disembark, and shoot 24 @ 12" shots. What are the rules about embarking into a vehicle during an assault? Am I being overly creative with my memory, or can you embark in a vehicle during an assault? Basically, I don't want to waste a turn getting into a vehicle, so what can I do?

Embarking: Movement phase-move squad within 2" of the hatches, and embark during movement phase. if fish hasn't moved already (like, if it didnt move 12" to get to a point where it could pick up the lads) can move its own 12". you can't disembark and embark on the same turn. And you can't embark duing, in or after an assault phase. Its done in movement phase.

Through the storms of the warp they come, upon the very tides of terror, but of such dangers they are uncaring. They are the Space Wolves, the Undefeated, the bane of the Emperor's foes."

i dont think you can shoot 24" after you disembark but you can shoot 12" rapid fire

I believe Seraphim meant 24 shots at a 12" range (24@12).

You are always going to waste a turn of shooting when you load up a squad of Fire Warriors.* Ideally, you have either eliminated all threats within their 18 effective range, or else there is enough of a threat remaining that another turn of firing would not be worth the risk of an assault.* It may be advisable to leave them on foot if they have a good long-range target.

Personally, I like to use combined teams of two full squads with two Devilfish.* It makes screening easier, and can help with covering fire on turns when one squad or the other is reembarking.

The 24 he meant were 24 rapid fire shots at 12" from the 12 FW.

Nope can't embark during an Assualt phase, only during an movement.

This might help you out some.

The last 3 posters missread his explanation. It clearly says 24 12" shots, the 24 being the number of shots, and the 12"being the inches..note the universal inches hint...upper right of twelve...." " " "

Also I forgot to mention that with 4th ed you cannot disembark and then assault unless you are doing so from an open topped vehicle. I'm not sure if this is already mentioned in this thread, and I honestly doubt its usefulness with regards to tau (lets just hop out of this transport and waste our 24 Rf shots for 24 CC hits instead!!). I just love people with brains so nonexistant that this possibility would occur to them...<--myself L::L()).

What was misread?* You posted the same thing Wolf-Tau and I already pointed out.

Thanks. By the way. I meant 24 Shots. Each measured at a distance less than or equal to 12 inches. Fired by 12 firewarriors.
