I'm about to buy a full squad of XV8's, yet I'm not sure what weapon choices to give them. I was thinking of a Full Fireknive's squad to combat the Marines and Chaos Marines (The main armies at my GW).
Has any body got any ideas? (I apoligise if this is the Wrong forum, please tell me if it is)

Well if your playing against marines, burning eye[TL plasma] and helios[plasma, fusion] are both really good at killing marines. I would say take a full squad of helios, move into rapid fire fusion range, blast them and jump back

Thanks for the Tip ;D.
I was wondering if I should use the squad as an all rounder so I could take on the stronger units (Marines) and also the weaker ones (Cadian shock troopers) and maybe even light viehcles. For that I would need something a long the lines of a Firestorm, a Helios and a Burning eye. Would that be better than a full squad of Fireknives or Helios?

I would just stick with helios or burning eye cause i love those suits ;D
But another alternative is deathrain which is TL missile, it would work well for what you need to do as it can take out light vehicles and marines.

don't glue the weapons on - they should hold by themselves with just the peg for a while. that way you can experiment.
plasma/msl is a staple that everyone agrees is good. try it out. I'm a big fan of plasma/fusion because I like to bring too many marker lights, and saying "2+,2+ and invulnerable only" lights up my day While in range, the msl will axe about .14 less marines a turn than when the fusion is in range. However, msl will start engaging at 36" rather than 12" and can start plugging light vehicles (rhinos and dreds) from range as well. |

Can you get some sort of magnets for your weapons?
Anyway, if you had a Burning Eye, a Helios and a Fireknive you have 1 weapon on them at 36", 5 at 24" and 6 guns at 18" thats still to far for basic marines to fire back and with the Jet packs you can jump back and pound them again. Wouldn't that be a good team? EDIT: You would have 6 guns at 12" (Fusion) which is far enough for them to fire back

Most, you dont even need magnets, you can just pressure fit the weapons and wargear. Sometimes things dont fit, but then you just end up with a Target Lock (array) on your arm, and a Plasma Rifle on your shoulder. Hey, it works! ;D

I use magnets for my Broadsides to get them to fit in better into the traveling case. As to the weapons though I find that two coats of paint snaps them in and out with ease.
I magnetized one Crisis suit but it looks kinda trashy with the magnets sticking out a little more then I'd like and I managed to get one of them reversed. All in all, from experience snapping the tabs in is better then playing with magnets on the Crisis suits. |
